Cool Cabinet find

Dredging this back up.

Looking for driver suggestions you guys might want to throw at me top try in these. Slotted folded horns. The hint above recommending stiff light cones and powerful magnets seems like a good generality to start with here.

The Lii Audio 8" or maybe even 6.6" might be an option for something new. Altec 755A would be great but.........$

If you’d like to try some Betsy K drivers, I’ll send you a pair gratis.
Well that would be mighty fine of you. Cool.
I have a friend here that has the non K versions and I was going to see if he had them in use yet to borrow. The K's make more sense.

Leben sent me some Betsy K's. Thanks!
I installed them into these cabinets and ran them for the afternoon. Don't like what I am hearing. kinda muffled, veiled and reproduced sound.
damn, was hoping something like this would just jive with these. I need to gain a better understanding of the principles of this type of design I think. Seems like the cavity directly behind the driver is fairly small and the slot narrow. Not sure how those dimensions are determined or how that impacts things.

Also, I don't have any insulation whatsoever in that cavity behind the driver and I don't believe there is any elsewhere throughout the horn channel. Add some?

It wouldn't hurt to put some batting behind the drivers and maybe a side wall... then stuff/tune to taste.
