This might be a source for sample DSD files.... http://www.2l.no/hires/
I just did recently. Not the most enjoyable process, but it's done. Quite successfully I might add.I'm gonna need a DAC, eventually. I just cannot get excited about buying one.
I'm behind the curve but I just watched this Modi review 'cause it popped up on my YouTube page and I think it has something for everyone...
Yes, everyone! Even our @JohnVF who detests the pleonastic Schiit jokes (C'mon John, just for you it's got a Schiit counter and an espresso intermission, which is followed by one of the greatest reviewer lines ever at 7:40! )
Check it out.
I got one via "Karma" on the Polks fora -- for the cost of shipping.I'm gonna need a DAC, eventually. I just cannot get excited about buying one.
That's some pretty good Karma !I got one via "Karma" on the Polks fora -- for the cost of shipping.
Bryston BDA-1. I guess it has a known issue with its USB, umm, errrrm... channel, but I can live with that.
It looks nice and... well... it converts digital to analog. Apparently.

They make such things?Input, it's a USB input.
Thats a very nice sounding DAC despite the early/lousy USB implementation limited to 48kHz maximum sample rate.
If a USB source is desirable, it would be best to connect it to the BDA-1 via a USB -> SPDIF converter, skipping that old skool adaptive mode USB input entirely.
I have heard tell of strange and wondrous creatures such as this roaming the depths of eBay and Amazon lands.....They make such things?
Lots of vendors just waiting to take your money ! Heck, you could possibly even DIY one. They make such things?
There's a Raspberry Pi in a box sittin' not 15 feet from me as I type this.
My son bought it with the thought of making a little media player out of it -- but ended up buying one instead.
