I think it relates to the person. She probably could learn it, but like you say, may not be interested in having to learn it. Some of us are more technically minded than others. Someone who's good with one kind of technology can more easily absorb other technologies than someone who has no technical acumen to speak of. It's like working on cars. My neighbor is always amazed at what I can do; he's no dummy, but it's just that his skill set lies elsewhere.
 
To the OP question: yes. But no one in my family is all that interested despite my willingness to "show and tell". As for guests, long ago experiences with my new records finding their way placed (unsleaved) to on top of my Lafayette Stereo 250 toob amp, I am wary of the uninitiated fondling my goodies. Talk about warped!
