DIY Duelund DCA-20GA Tin Plated Copper wire

Do It Yourself
Thanks for the informative pics marantzfan, I will be making a frys electronics stop to pick up a set of “extra hands” (I’m sure soldering will be easier and more fun this way). The finished IC’s do look good and am sure will be my end all wires here soon. Can’t wait for the order to come in!

My plan is to use 20AWG from crossover to horns, 16AWG from crossover to woofer, and 12AWG from crossover to speaker terminals. Then, lengths of 12AWG for speaker cables.

Pretty much following Dr. Jeff Day’s prescription. ;)

Any of you guys willing to build up and sell a pair or two to a schmuck like myself?

Just ordered the "extra hands" from Amazon. I'm planning a couple of pair of interconnects using Duelund. Any suggestion as to the 26 gauge silver or the 20 gauge tinned copper?

That 26awg solid looks interesting, doesn’t it? I’m so happy with the 20awg tinned stuff, I’m going to stop there. It’s that good!

Wonder how the wire would work for a Crack build? Should be better than the wire the kit comes with.

Done and done!! Many thanks.
You won’t be disappointed, mind you I have yet to hook up my speaker wires but can feel and smell the quality in them (may be the oil fumes or NyQuil speaking).
I am thinking of adding a two part insulation jacket; one per wire, then one for the two together. Thoughts anyone?

I would think, bad idea. A big part of the design of these cables was the use of that cloth as an insulator. Believe it or not, the insulator material (and amount used) have an effect on the sound.

The Duelund wire is, IMHO, the best buy in audio cables/wire.

I have not tried Dueland, but I find in general, people like Jeff Day, and most all of his audio buddies do not use enough wire in the audio paths, and so, their transfer efficiency suffers, which renders the music less life-life on high efficiency speakers, particularly in terms of the music's dynamic contrasting.

Think of music, not sine waves, and instruments' instantaneous peaks.

I have previously posted here on a super-high quality wide-band military spec wire, readily available on eBay, at far lower costs than the Dueland, which would be HARD to beat on a cost versus performance / best buy basis. It is M22759/11 in various gauges. It should be used as singles and often as paralleled / twisted multiples.... in the range of 12 to 20 AWG.

Quality versus cost is " off the scale ", BUT, it needs to be implemented specifically / carefully.

I pay about 50 cents a foot for 12 AWG, and correspondingly lower for smaller than 12 AWG runs. Maybe as little as 30 cents a foot for 20 AWG. Lowball the eBay sellers.

This is the same wire I had specified in my ( now-retracted, but still posted here ) TYPE 46 DC SET amp schematic, various AWGs for various spots, starting with the primary of the power transformer .

If necessary, I can do a wire tutorial on how to use it, if people want to give it a listen.

About the only person who has reported getting some is opa1. I have NO idea what his system is, and how he used it, ( reference to my written suggestions - which I doubt ) , or, if he used it at all.

Have fun, I do !!

Hi Jeff. Please post the eBay link. I'd like to try some of that wire.

Thank you.
