Finding analog bliss with the iFi iPhone2 w/SBooster linear power supply.

So what kind of schiit are you all running for phono pres? I'm incredibly particular about the things. If I had to pick between "spin this wheel to get a random turntable" and "spin this wheel to get a random phono stage", considering all options were semi competent..I'd go with random turntable.

Many of my preamps have built-in phono stages.

My main separate phono preamps are the custom Quicksilver Phono Preamp Mike Sanders built for me and the 83rP clone I got from our esteemed @Prime Minister ( I keep wanting to say "Optimus Prime Minister" ;) ).

My preference for MC is my Quicksilver SUT. Matches the DL-103 beautifully. :)

The iFi Phono2/eBooster combination is definitely intriguing and would undoubtedly be a contender.

My criticisms of this thing aren't really criticisms per se, just things that I wish were a bit different in the context of my own system.

One, I wish that it were bigger. I really have no choice but to either strap it down somehow, or let it hang off the back of the cabinet, which is what its doing right now. The cables running in and out of it, plus the grounding wire and power connection, coming out of both ends, results in something that is more like an interruption in a string of cables than a stand-alone audio unit. My Primare unit is full rack size, the size of a big full function preamplifier, and as big as some of my amps. It's much easier to position in a place that allows me easy access to its controls.

Two, I wish it had another input. It has a MM and LOMC input but switching between the two of them requires the manipulation of the microscopic dip switches, and I don't actually know if they both can be plugged in at the same time. Maybe?

Bungee cords and duct tape, and you're golden!

EDIT: Actually, doesn't this give you license to buy some swanky cable lifters, or something?
