Fluids on your records

I have used my Oki Nokki (or whatever its called) with the MoFi Super Wash and the Audio Intelligent Enzymatic and "Formula 15" with good results. I will do a run of the super wash or Formula 15, then the Ai enzymatic, then distilled water. I tried Record Doctor but it left residue for me that was hard to get off...not sure what I was doing wrong but hated the stuff.

Thanks for the info on the wood glue- I've been meaning to try it but haven't.

I trust your reviews so I’ll avoid the Disc Doctor fluids. If you come across the Record Doctor fluids, I think your results will be different.

I have no objection to simple green. ( I use Dawn or Palmolive with ethanol a few per cent) but to me 25% sounds very high. Of course my record usually aren't very dirty to start with. I might use a higher percentage if I were getting records in the wild.

I get almost all my records from thrift stores or Half Priced Books, so yeah a lot of them are pretty filthy.

Oooh I don’t mean to discount something by mistake. I must have confused them. Yes with the one I used I still hear noise from it on the few records I cleaned with it.

Yes I’m not one to take your advice lightly so I was concerned, then relieved when I realized we were definitely not using the same product. Easy to confuse Disk Doctor/Record Doctor by name. Luckily this Record Doctor product is doing it’s job correctly. I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with your issues with the Disc Doctor fluid.

I think, from carefully culling the information on the various forums and professionals at places like Galen Carol audio, that the enzyme cleaner will work best on any greasy finger and palm prints.

For records with other issues- like the ones I had with mold on them or from things as bad as animal paw prints tracked across them, the glue method worked wonders. I cannot, however, see the glue method combating greasy smears and prints- but who knows.

I really think the subsonic cleaners can offer the best results- but it’s a time consuming affair for those with exceptionally large collections. Hard to say if it’s a cost effective method or not for those trying to eek out the last bit of performance from their records. If only results were achieved quicker…
