Hello hello.

Up for sale are a pair of Spendor BC-1s with stands AND ORIGINAL BOXES, . These are THE classic BBC 2 cubic foot boxes that people who drink tea all the time and speak much more proper English than my bastardized American version of it rave about. The speaker that started it all, or at least, whatever it was the led to my Harbeth SHL-5s and many other 2 cubic foot lossy boxes that sound so so good.

You know what they are. If you don't, you probably aren't that interested in buying them!

I'll get some more photos up in a bit, but they're in extremely good condition.

Therefor I'd prefer not to ship them. They have original boxes and foam liners but even the boxes should have boxes.

All drivers work. These were once owned by somebody a few of you might remember who went by Audiodon...rest in piece my friend. He told me that he'd sent the woofers back to be worked on/checked out by Spendor and Derek Hughes himself freshened them up.

I believe, going by some comments Don made, they're they're from 1979. So not Alnico BC-1s, if that matters to you.

The sale includes the original stands, as pictured, and original boxes (which I'll get a photo of)>

Thanks for looking!

$750 pick up.

The Coles supertweeters seem to always have fingerprint-looking corrosion around them. THese look better than almost all BC-1s without their grilles. Which is why people keep the grilles on.

I honestly don't recall what was done to the crossovers, maybe you can tell. Everything works as it should and sounds good. Anybody who's been in them knew what they were doing.

And these are likely the most beautiful BC1s I've ever seen. Look great and sound exactly as BC1s should. And I'm a pretty hard core Spendor guy.

If I was looking for BC1s, these are the ones that I would want.

Damnit, John. ;)

First the Quads and now the Spendors?!?

You are making it really difficult to not buy big speakers while my basement is all torn up. ;) ;)

The logos are intact as well as the very unique grille cloth. Check out that quality centering they used on their logos. Maybe Spencer set them himself!

Methinks you've some future shopping in mind....
It's a combination of that, and me being really tired of stereo clutter. These are currently hooked up in a back room but rarely get listened to. But yes, I have something in mind.

I'm sure we shall hear.... "all in good time, my little pretty...." I'm getting into a not dissimilar frame of mine. Maybe Spring coming or something?

This has been kind of a rough winter. Long and depressing. Spring is coming and I want a new start. And part of that is getting out of this stereo collecting business. I could start a museum with the stuff here. It should be listened to.

I get it. Long and depressing without much of the (to me) interesting side of the season. That and at some point one just starts to feel possessed by one's possessions rather than the other way around.

I wonder how the Spendors would sound with the E-202 vs. the B&W DM-14s I've paired with them? Similar size, but very different philosophy.

Just the number of things you need, all of good quality, and in great shape, is working well for me.

It's the "possessed by ones possessions" part. And that ever elusive putting all the money in one basket...have better eggs. Not that these aren't great...but they're more for the collector. They're fine speakers, but they're really something a collector would desire. Or the type of person who relishes LS-3/5as but BIGGER.

Bump for these. I will sell them for $600 local (Detroit area)...only if you pick them up. Or I could drag them to Chicago.

I will not ship for that price though :)

care to expound? im interested in john's BC1s, but am wary that they may be "giant killers" that may stand between me and a pair of harbeths.
The BC1 is a lovely, smooth, musical speaker that is very emotionally satisfying. :)
