Fostex FE208EZ Sigma series build.

These might be a fun and cheaper alternative super tweeter option.

May well be, although it triggered my grammar-national-socialist :( streak with the first sentence of the ad copy:
The Aperion Audio Super Tweeter is a high-fidelity compliment to any home audio system.

I suppose that's better than tweeters that are insulting... but I won't be paying their copy writer any complements.

:-I

I only look at the pictures.

A friend of mine suggested a "super tweeter" for my monkey coffins. But seeing as how MY hearing rolls off at 12.5k....why bother?

Be interesting to see if you are still "aware" of the higher frequency harmonics even if you can't directly hear them.

Been curious for years about how we perceive harmonic content above 20khz and the associated impact on how it influences us regarding component and source selections.

This is definitely my experience... and my HF extension is pretty well not extended anymore... and I've got some tinnitus now, too. Goin' to heck in a handbasket at 60 years of age, I am.

Been a while since I offered an update about these so here ya go!!! I ended buying the BK- 20 kits from Madisound and building them myself. They went together easily and exactly as described in their instructions!! I had the raw drivers breaking in about 8 hours a day while building and finally finishing in what you see in the pics, ( that was clearly the hardest part, gawd they sounded awful). Once complete, in the cabinets they went, this is when I knew I was onto something that could be very special! A friend of mine let me use his Fostex T90A and crossovers( with 1UF cap) and bam!! Home run!! I put up a wanted add on CAM and within about a day or so a chap responded and long story short we ended up agreeing on a price for the tweeters crossovers and cables for well less then half of new ( with .68 UF cap, may go back to 1UF at some point)...... anyhoo, I get the single driver magic but without the dreadfully shrillness that often comes with them!!!!! I am using my PP. replica HF 86 but have it out for a good cleaning for now so In went the Marantz, sounding pretty damn good too!!!

Nice work! :)

Very similar to my Lowthers in Medallion cabinets, which I hold in exceptionally high esteem. :)

Nicely done!

And I really like the blue, too... Did you have to do a lot of filler work to get that nice clean finish?

Not so much Nate, these cabs came with little grooves to put each piece together , ( idiot proof, the way I like things....) and then clamped (about 15 of them)!! There was a little filling here and there but for the most part they were pretty damn good off the hop!!! Lots of sanding and then lots of patience in between each coat with more sanding, in the end I'm very pleased with them, both sonically and asthetically!!

The EZ or Sigma seires drivers are smoother than than the others.
Good on you for the break in first, they take a while.
I built a pair of back loaded horns with 168EZ drivers, they where very nice speakers. Mine played 24 hrs a day for 2 weeks in the garage before I finished the cabinets.
Glad you are enjoying yours, they great.
