FREE Free to a good home - Meadowlark Shearwater Hotrods - Here's why..

Yours for the Asking
Hi folks,
If you're interested, I'm in SoFlo, (Coral Gables) pick-up only. I do have the original boxes but I have a bad back and just don't want to deal with the hassle of lifting and shipping. Hey, they're free. I wanna make someone happy. Hope it's a blessing and not a curse.

History: I was living on St. Thomas. Bought them used for $1,300 ~ 25 yrs ago shipped down from a guy in Boston. I LOVED them for many years living in the VI with Cary Hardware back then. Then I moved to NYC. The speakers stayed on the island in a storage unit for ~ 5 yrs. This was no temp controlled unit. It was a metal shed , outdoor garage type unit that probably hit 120F for those years. I later shipped them up to NY, but never used them (out of respect for neighbors in a brownstone carved up into 15 small apartments). So then they went into a storage unit in NY for years when I moved to SoFlo. Then I went up and shipped them down here. They were screwed from the VI heat. I had the drivers replaced with the same Scanspeak drivers, but I don't think they ever sounded the same. Then to add insult to injury, someone- let's just call her my girlfriend- tipped one over and it went smack on the tile floor. So one mid/bass driver broke (the basket shattered, it's useless). The other speaker seems to work fine.

I can't, in good conscience, ask any money for them. Consider them nice cabinets if you want to try to patch 'em up.

I'm waiting on a new pair of Focal Aria Evo X no 1's (back-ordered because I really want the green ones), with a pair of REL's. I think that should make me happy. Current speakers are, of course, the Shearwaters little brother, old original Kestrels... They'll do until the Focals arrive.

If anyone wants to pick up the Shearwaters, let me know, thanks,
Jay
