Good quality, Unfancy Speaker Cable ?

I have two recommendations:

Supra Ply 3.4 or other AWG's sold on ebay in raw form.
and
Cardas Litz 11.5AWG hook up wire or other AWG for your particular use (length, etc). Parts Connexion. If you dont have a solder pot to tin litz, get them to do it for a few bucks.

I'm using Viborg Pure Copper Banana's (ebay) for connectors. They go hand in glove with the copper cardas speaker terminals. This was my last component to go all copper and expound everything that had any brass or other metals. Although I might consider copper with rhodium plating... as I have a feeling I'm going to be doing some polishing a few times a year with exposed copper.

A retrospective analysis quickly reveals that I have left my droppings all over this thread already* but I feel moved to mention this Belden...umm... whatever it is**.

As usual -- I blame @Redboy. :o

** Belden 9497.

I bought some NOS tinned copper spades on Ebay years ago that I used to terminate my speakers internally with. I can't remember who made them but they were old, NLA and cheap, which reminds me of.. me.

I'm pretty settled here on getting DH-labs something or other. Probably the Q-10. I'm currently using some Audioquest wire that came off a spool, I think I bought it at Magnolia years ago...and it's ok...really I'm just looking just for a thicker gauge and so might as well try something new.

I've used DH-labs jumpers before, my only exposure to the company.

Does anybody here have any detailed remarks between DH-labs Q-10 vs the less expensive T-15? As in what's better in the Q-10? What's lost with the cheaper option?

I like the Duelund, Belden 9497 and Woods Yardmaster extension cord (Walmart).
anyone care to comment on the merits of extension cord as speaker cable? i recall a home depot model also being touted.

I have the Woods Yardmaster cable that I made some speaker leads with. I like them. Honestly, I really don't know how they fare against fancy big buck speaker leads but they sound as good as most affordable cables.

thanks for the input. did you terminate the ends or just use bare?

I have tried them both ways. I prefer to use a good quality banana clip. I have also taken the white cover off of them and made twisted pair and bi-wire set ups as well. The most expensive speaker leads I own are the Morrow Audio SP3 (3 meter) that retail for around $300 or so and I don't know if the Woods are any worse.
