Good quality, Unfancy Speaker Cable ?

PS DH labs T14...excellent and affordable.
I still plan on that for my office setup, which is turning out to be the fun system. The anti-cables have always intrigued me after seeing them in person at a booth at RMAF. I need to figure out my speaker situation before I dig into amp situation.

My main system required two 50' runs of speaker cable and I used 14g flat cable from StraightWire. It's done its job admirably and wasn't that expensive for how much I needed. AND... it hid very well against the wall trim.

The anti-cables are thin but solid so they can be somewhat conspicuous if not "shaped". I've only used their original formula in a vintage context and liked them very much. I was able to get a roll from Speltz Audio as I didn't see any need for connectors. I prefer bare wire into a quality binding post and even put high quality binding posts on my vintage gear.

Maybe because it was a vintage set up, the midrange clarity I attribute to a lack of dialectic really worked well.

I'd like to replace the speaker cable in my system, but while I want something of good quality, I'm not looking to support the manufacturers marketing department too.

So I'm looking for some really high quality copper cable, that isn't too think. Probably need about 16 feet total.

Any thoughts?
PM, I bought these 4 or 5 months ago and they are, IMHO, quite good. They took a good while to settle in though. Steve is in Toronto and has a 30 return policy.

I have Dueland wire but it is the older type that had to be twisted into pairs. I could mail it to you to try. I found it to be a bit bright. YMMV

@Drugolf
Time with you wire... report? 😴
I've used them now with a few different systems and speakers etc. Right now with some AR3 and a Marantz 250 until this morning and now a Kenwood Basic M2. I am pleased with the sound but with how much I am moving things around I probably don't provide a good barometer.

Cool,
I bought 100 feet... still in the closet aging. 🙄
I have couple changes in order before I implement it, just curious.
@Redboy Nate could chime in again.

For inexpensive but decent quality I like the wireworld mini eclipse. If you can go beyond that, anything from Audioquest from the folk heroes or mythical creatures is quite exceptional. I swore I’d never be an AQ dealer when I started the business, but the direction they are on right now is revelatory.

I was so impressed that my initial investment in about $15k of cables jumped to $80k after getting ears on it. I have five dragon power cables on order because they really are that damn good.

At the bare minimum, OCC is a must.

Well... there is that Duelund stuff a few of us are enjoying.

More Duelund fun, this time speaker cable!
running a mix of duelund 12ga, belden 9497, clear day silver, straight wire virtuoso, zu.. had to get creative w a recent configuration and fell back to monoprice copper 12ga.. which is the worst sounding by some emotively undefinable metric. possible if I left them on longer, they'd 'stabilize' and sound better but they've been coiled and sitting for a few years. ;D after a day they went back to the box. the zu are nice, cheap but i wish they were a heavier ga. i also wish my car was a hovercraft but.. Jupiter just put out some Duelund similar tinned copper.. i've watned to try the duelund double 12ga/ 16ga but idk. i like the sound out of it but.. i may look for something more 'e$oteric' when cable funds come available. the belden is a sleeper, cheap too buck a foot from the ebay guy in LA. also using some 10ga belden some number, w some IEC for power, braided, to some good effect.

Apologies for reviving this old thread , having said that , I am contemplating buying some telco-flex-iii (thank you J-Rob) to try out as diy speaker cables. As some time has passed, a question for those who have used it. Do you still use it (like it ) or did you move on? I realize this is a very subjective and system dependent topic. Attributes can't always be translated to different systems and I get that, but none the less I still would like to know if you thought it was worth your time to build the telco-flex-iii speaker cables. It also appears one could make power cables with the telco-flex as well (provided you made sure it was system compatible). Has anyone made power cables with the telco-flex?
For context my system : EL84 PP (Baby Huey) amp (12-15 Watts?)
Altec 414 & 802 onken speakers ("White Lightening" (Pete Riggle) power cord wire made into speaker cables)
Salas DCG3 preamp or Salas 6v6 preamp, Salas Folded Simplistic Phono (diyAudio), Garrard 401
Digital Rasp pi 4b with MoOde audio with L-adapter power supply

thanks for your time, cheers

I'm using it and have no complaints.
I'm totally happy with my system.
2a3 amps driving Jensen field coils and Altec 802 8g .
Never tried using it for power cable.

I too am using the telcoflex stuff. Altec 802/32, 416, various tube amps etc. All you need for this category of gear I feel.
It's kinda stiff and can kink a bit so keep it managed when moving around so you don't put a bend in it that weakens the outer fabric cover.

This is a coincidence ! This past week I was re-reading the same article, and have brought in some tinned copper cable to try out.

Where did you find the telco-flex in Canada ? Under the Southwire brand ?

Thanks everyone for responding. I haven't found a Canadian telco-flex supplier yet and may just bite the bullet and order from a US supplier. Yes shipping will be expensive with a US supplier but I'm still looking for a Canadian source in the mean time. If I do find a Canadian source I will post the info here.
Thanks again.

If I got some of that cover thingy stuff and put it around my speaker cables, would my wife like it more better than the mess of wires I have?

There are many colors available for Techflex sleeving. Knock yourself out!

My not-too fancy speaker cables of choice:

good- Gotham Cables
better- Supra Cable
best- Cardas- litz hook up wire

Various gauges depending on use.
