$2.99 Realistic SCT-86 (in 96 catalog) and $0.30 for some live Bob Marley (can I get a hell yeah?!? Hell yeah!!! I have never listened to this album (knowingly at least) and it sounds awesome. One of those “the louder the better” for sure. Great live recording.

Once Im in my new place, Im going to make a mostly Realistic system. This was the final piece. Receiver can be STA-795, STA-300, or STA115, this cassette deck, CD-2000, Lab 1600 linear tracking TT (suckface), and some Minimus 7W speakers. I also have a cheapo Aiwa powered sub with speaker/hi level inputs. Count me in as a Realistic fan for sure. Thats about 9 years of thrifting and the Minimus 7Ws came from a church garage sale that I had first dibs ($2, minty) bc I helped collect donations throughout the year. I doubt Ill find a powered Realistic sub with hi level/speaker inputs, but ya never know. Ill probably hack up my 20’ Radio Shack Gold RCA interconnect and use the Amazon connectors (that are extremely similar to the Radio Shack Gold RCA connectors) to make up custom short interconnects just for this system.

Also, Ive heard this hundreds of times. Most every Friday spring quarter in college from 89-92 someone in the frat quads would start cranking this at about 2. I just never knew it was this lol

Hey, on that Bob Marley & The Wailers Live! tape... There's a 1973 recorded-from-FM-broadcast of the band "Live at the Record Plant, Sausalito" floating around. Worth tracking down if you're at all a fan. The organ is mixed quite hot, but it's otherwise a nice recording. As much as I love early ska, rocksteady, reggae, etc. the recording quality is often .. the best folks could do with what was available. The Plant recording captures the band beautifully.

That was one of my first dat trades, back in 95 or 96. I had forgotten about that. Its probably at my friends in Cali with about 2500 other dats(1000++ Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia Band/Legion of Mary/etc complete shows). I moved all my possession from Cali to Ohio in a Ford Windstar and only had room for about 250 tapes. One of these days Ill have him send me a box of media mail (or not, I moved 15 years ago). Dont listen to a lot of jam bands anymore whereas from 95-01 that was all I listened to. I remember that tape for sure, it starts out with a short narrative and if memory serves he talks about “the roots of reggae”. A clean, great sounding recording for sure.

And of course, youtube has it.
