Greetings from Breda, The Netherlands!

Hello everyone,

I’ve never really been active on any of the audio forums with the exception of the Bottlehead one because I use their amps.
I think this forum will be as good a place as any to start participating. I’m glad to have found this growing community of like-minded and creative music lovers.

My humble and rather concise system consists of the following components:
  • Thorens TD-126 MKIII with Mission 774 LC arm and Dynavector 20x2H cartridge
  • Lenco L75 with Audiomods Series six 10.5 inch arm (work in progress) The 20x2H will be transferred from the Thorens to this project once it’s finished.
  • Bluesound Node 2 (I use it’s built-in DAC)
  • Bottlehead Eros
  • Bottlehead Stereomour II
  • Recently completed GPA 604 in MLTL cabinets

I've literally just yesterday hooked up the drivers and completed the wiring, so everything is still fresh (Many thanks to @Audionut for your help with finishing the cabinets!). I do like the potential I'm hearing but there are some room related issues I need to address with treatment. Currently I only have the Node 2 in use as the Thorens is in storage.

Attached below are a few detail pictures taken during the build of the cabinets. These were a labor of love to be sure. I had never built a cabinet before or had any experience in woodworking or otherwise. Really happy with how they turned out!

I can also post a more detailed build log but I suppose the High Efficiency subforum would be a better place for this.

Cheers,
Thijs

Wow, that's an incredible first effort, Thijs! Very nice work on those cabinets!

Welcome to the forum. We'll look forward to seeing more of you (and your system) here.

I always envy those with woodworking skills. Those cabinets look great.
Been to Breda many times when I worked for Philips. Nice city.

Welcome Thijs

No way this is your first time, they look amazing! Love the grain patter on the fronts and mitered veneer on the edges too! It shows that you put a lot of time, effort and attention to detail; truly a labor of love.
I for one would not mind reading up on a separate build log/thread. We can all learn from each other, plus it may motivate another member here to build their own.

Welcome to HFH! I would love to see a detailed build thread on those cabinets as I have a pair of 604E drivers in need of a permanent home.

As someone who has an Audiomods Series IV arm, I'm sure that 10.5" Series Six is amazing!

Thanks for the warm welcome and kind responses, everyone!
I will compile something that resembles a build log in a separate thread.

Welcome Thijs

How cool that you know the city! Honestly, I envy those people too. There was some trial and error involved and mainly lots and lots of time trying to get things right. Google and YouTube were definitely my friends during this project. I was lucky enough to be able to borrow some equipment like a router and orbital sander from my brother in law. Those definitely made life easier.

Welcome to the Haven @Thijs ! Nice work on the cabs. Tubes and Altec great combo!

I agree with you! :-)

Thanks for your kind words! Our talk definitely gave me the confidence needed to proceed with veneering and finishing the cabinets! Many thanks, again. The edges and rabbeted baffle were inspired by the old Altec Model 17 cabinets. I really like that look of a 'suspended' baffle with the mitered edges.

I've read great things about Jeff's tonearms and I'm really looking forward to hearing it in the system. Thanks for sharing your experience with the IV!

Cheers,
Thijs

Welcome to the Haven! Very familiar collection of gear that you have there! I’ve got a decent idea of how you must be enjoying it.
