Can't find a friggin' house to buy so I need to make room and get rid of some of the stuff I have. Some ground rules

1. Prices not really negotiable. I'm selling stuff 80% less than what I bought it for not to raise cash but to make room.

2. On the speakers, local pick up only.

3. All the gear is working condition. I'd say they're about 6 or 7 on Audiogon scale. I don't keep junk around.

4. I will add to this thread as I find stuff around the house/garage which I admit is a bit of a mess because we're about 20% packed up and way out of space.

5. I will add photos hopefully later on today. Here goes

1. One pair Revel Performa F50. Used it in my video set-up fpr 5 years before customizing a pair of Crites Cronscalas. Sycamore with grey accents. Has a few nicks but in good shape and I might have the grills. $7500 new, I bought them used for $2000 with all new drivers. Willing to let them go for $400.

2. One pair of Lorelei Odyssey speakers. 6moons audio reviews: Odyssey Audio Lorelei. I'm using them in a bedroom/mancave. I bought them as demo pair for $2000. They sound nice and are in pretty good shape. Price $350 (SOLD)

3. Prototype (Music First I believe) TVC passive preamp. Two inputs and outputs, single-ended only. Built like the proverbial brick sh**house. Sounds clean and dynamic. I have no use for it and it's been sitting here for 2 years now. Someone handy could just use the TVC and build whatever they want around it. High quality build. This I can ship. $200 plus $50 shipping anywhere to CONUS. (SOLD)

Why am I selling this stuff so cheap? Not counting the two pairs of speakers for sale, I have five other high-end pairs as well as pair of Tocaro 42E I just traded for. My house ain't big and gear is literally all over. I'm never going to use these so I'd rather someone else get use from them. I will post pictures later on today. I live in Palm Beach County, Florida, about 20 minutes south of West Palm Beach.

Cheers,
Ian

I'm intrigued... will PM for more information.

I thought of Nate as soon as I posted it. He and I have already spoken. :)

Hopefully I can cull some other gear as well at bargain basement prices.

TVC to Redboy. Guess that's no shock.

Hopefully some locals will want some speakers. I won't just leave them on the curb for some neighbors to grab.

Man I’d love to own some Tocaro. Such a niche brand in an already niche hobby. What gear are you running with yours?

I don't have it yet, should be here in about 10 days. I'm getting in trade for a Border Patrol 300B amp. I'll probably use it with some tube amps I have. Not sure which one yet, logical suspects

Aric Audio 211/845
Shiny Eyes 300B
Otomon 801 A (3W so might not be powerful enough)
Antique Sound Labs 845s

I also have a LM 300B integrated that I'm using with a pair of Altec 612s I built (with help from others). I'm thinking about buying an LM 845 integrated amp but I have too much gear now. I have a couple of SS amps I use in different systems.

I love that you have a NYAL amp. I lived in NYC back in the day when NYAL was making stuff. I was a big fan of Harvey and Jules. I've often thought of buying a Futterman amp but they almost all need an overhaul. I also wonder how good it would be compared to today's stuff. Certainly super cool but maybe a dated sound? I don't know. I do know reading Harvey Rosenberg's writing really got me into tubes in the first place. I don't think he gets enough credit for his designs and other than us older guys I'm not sure many would even know who he is. Long live NYAL.

I've got a Moscode 300 sitting around waiting to be sold. It's certainly an interesting piece.

I vaguely remember hearing one in the 80's at Stereo Exchange in NYC. They'd get NYAL/Futterman gear every so often. If I recall correctly, the moscode was more reliable than the Futterman OTLs. The chassis could rattle but they held up. Julius' OTL designs were more temperamental and ran very high voltages that were scary for me back in the day. I'm still a little wary of super high voltage amps but I have a couple of 845 amps so I've learned to live with it.

I have a really good tube tech locally and I'd like to find a Futterman for him to restore (better caps, connectors, etc) before I ultimately move out of S. Florida. There is one i Cali that's not too pricey but they don't weant to ship and the seller said "I have no way of testing this other than to see the tubes come on." There's another pair of Julius' big amps that have been on sale on ebay for more than a year but they're $30k.

I can tell you that there's a bit of performance still to be unlocked in stock Moscode designs. Before the 300 I recently got, I had the Schiit Audio Tyr monoblocks and boy oh boy they were a huge letdown. Not everything modern sounds better; in fact I've found quite the opposite to be true but not just in amplification but also source equipment.

Definitely post a new thread when you get the Tocaros and their system set up. I would love to see it.

I will do that. TBH , I had never heard of them until someone offered them in trade to me. I did some research and found that they are well regarded. For those that don't know them, they have no crossover. The 42E has two different full range drivers that overlap each other. comceptually, I like full-range drivers because they sound more pure (at least to my ears) than a design with a crossover. In practice. I have found them somewhat bandwidth limited.

This is a stock picture of them:

To me they look like a high WAF factor speaker. My wife, however, took one look at the photo and declared them hideous. Oh well, no accounting for taste. :)

I would say have an open mind when listening to the Tocaros for the first time... and every time, really. They're so different than other speakers you might have heard that it takes a while for the head to wrap around what they're actually giving you. I've heard those exact models on both DNM electronics as well as Crimson. Both very good. I'd imagine the LM gear you've got should do well. However it might take a bit of mix and matching to get them just right.

Hey folks, I am running revel f50's right now as my main / only speakers

They were a better fit for me than my Altec 604s

That price is an absolute steal. If someone reading this can pick those up locally, they are highly recommended
