Hello from Santa Fe!

Hi,
Just joining here, after a pretty long break from audio forums (previously AudioKarma and others).

I've been into hifi since my teens in the late 70's/early 80's, when I could not afford anything other than a Technics system but spent time in hifi shops dreaming of having a great system one day. In the 90's, while living overseas, I dove in and started the quest to build a home system while participating in a local hifi club and visiting hifi shops as much as possible.

My journey has led me through many different systems, and I have found a particular love for single driver / crossoverless and horn speakers. I have also gotten back into analog - initially in 2020 with a Rega P6 (Ania MC), but have recently come into the stewardship of an amazing Win Labs SDC-10 turntable / Souther Linear SLA-3 / Clearaudio Veritas cartridge from its original owner, who is rapidly becoming one of my best friends and is a neighbor. We're also part of the local hifi club, organized by Mike Phalan (Gestalt HiFi here in Santa Fe) - all around great guy and very knowledgeable.

My phono MC to MM amp is the Lounge Copla with siver wiring upgrade.

My current speakers have blown me away - updated Zu Druid IV-13 - crossoverless wideband driver with horn supertweeter. GREAT speakers that really shine with a warm front end. Sean Casey (owner of Zu, formerly of Kimber Cable) chooses Pass Labs as a high match for his speakers.
For the bottom octave, I have a Dynaudio Sub6, which integrates beautifully with the Zu's.
My amplification is a Naim NAIT XS3 integrated that sounds really good in my system. It is a placekeeper for a Pass INT-25 or pearhaps something from EAR.

Cabling is a mix of bang for the buck - Audioquest Rocket11 speaker cable, Cardas Iridium phono, and others (Transparent, Lounge)

I'll post more of a system-centric topic with photos soon.

I love all music, as does my wife, with musicality prevailing as the main criteria. We listen to jazz, classic rock, progressive rock, progressive metal, hip hop - hard to really nail it down.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I look forward to participating here.
Cheers!

Scott

Hi Doug!
I look forward to meeting you. Mike already has me on the mailing list for the High Desert Fidelity Club, so I'm set there - thanks for the invitation anyway.
I live south of town, in Eldorado, where (as I am beginning to learn) there are a number of audio enthusiasts.
Are you in town?
Until we meet, cheers!!!

I love the Copla, but I have no point of comparison within my system (it is the only MC step up I've owned).
The adjustable impedance / gain REALLY makes an audible difference. turn counterclockwise (lower gain, higher impedance) for super clean vinyl with great dynamic range, clockwise for older / less dynamic vinyl. It is nice to be able to make the adjustments, as it allows one to dial in the setting for each record, as most yield different "sweet spots".
Lounge also makes an MM-Line level stage that I've contemplated trying (in lieu of the built-in Naim MM stage), but I'm very content for now.

Welcome from Michigan on a very cold day. Dreaming of southern climes.
I bet! Come on down for a break!
We're more of a "Southern Rocky Mountain" climate here (Santa Fe is at 7,000 feet elevation and sits at the southern origin point of the Rockies), but we get abundant sunshine and nice days mixed with occasional cold and/or snowy days.
Of course, coming from Michigan, Santa Fe would still be a great midwinter break. Add Ojo Caliente hot springs (1 hour from town) to your "must visit" list.
