What did you get from your Secret Santa?

Hello From Seattle

Good morning - My name is Mike (not Peter Franks - Peter is a discrete fictional character who's life doesn't end well) and one of your members reached out to me thru a CL ad I placed and told me about this audio forum - looks like a nice place. Thought I'd say hello and show you what I'm into. I've been into vintage HIFI for about the last 15 yrs and have two systems - one a dedicated mono system and the other stereo:

Stereo
Fisher KX100 - was my father-in-laws who gave it to me before he passed. He bought it new in c1964. I did a total recap and restore (I do my own work). Still has all original Fisher branded tubes.
JVC QL-A2 turntable - It's great and I love it.
Denon DL-110 - best all around cartridge and stylus for the money in my opinion. This is my second one.
Altec 605Bs - Epic speakers from 1965 (date codes within a few weeks of each other). Mounted in cabinets dated 1961 and near the same internal volume as the Altec 612s.
Sony C77ES - CD player. I love CDs.

Mono
Altec A-339A Melodist Amplifier - picked up at a junk store cheap. Totally rebuilt and new cabinet made.
DJ Pre II - phono pre-amp - The preamp in the A-339A leaves a lot to be desired when matched with my mono cartridge. I think it is better suited for a vintage cartridge and not the new modern day stuff. The DJ sounds good.
Sony TTS-3000A transcription turntable/plinth - from c1968. Picked out of a junk bin.
Grace G-545 Tone arm - came with the turntable.
Audio Technica VM610 mono cartridge
Altec 604C mounted inside a Karlson cabinet
- 604C re-coned/refurbished by GPA.

Running a Sansui 7070 + KLH28 speakers in the family room.
Spares: Sansui Six & Eight, Sherwood S8000 (fulling recapped and overhauled by me), Eico FM tuner (father-in-laws)
This is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thanks for having me here.

Welcome to the Haven! With the lovely gear you have, you will fit in nicely. Plenty of trouble to get in to as well, with all the neat stuff being built around here. Oh, also any friend of Altec is a friend of mine.:)

Thank you - good to be here. Altec gear is pretty special IMO.
I'll share more later on what I'm doing in my shop. Nothing spectacular but keeps my mind active.

I completely agree and I also appreciate that they made a speaker for every purpose. There is a lot of fun to be had up and down their line; from commercial to domestic products. I think I’ve sampled six or seven different models and I’m probably only a fourth of the way through their line.
Looking forward to seeing more of your contributions. I have a couple in my stable and parts to build a few more.

Beautiful gear Peter! Welcome!
Thank you ! I see you are from Columbus. I have a lot of family in that area - Newark and surrounding areas to be exact.
The name is Mike. Peter Franks is a discrete fictional character. Look him up :)
