Hey there from NC (by way of Austin, Chicago, et al)

I've still got it, though it's on a shelf right now. Beautiful as ever, but the person from whom I bought the Grado arm that's on it used a pretty stiff wire that introduces an annoying skating force (opposed to anti-skate). And I've been intending to change the motor for a Papst that I have in a box here somewhere.

I ask because I went a very similar path with the ROK I found. Didn’t even realize it till I ran across your thread on AK.F1B41130-E660-4A2C-8B22-A77AC12DD780.jpeg

Very nice! I like the way that you've matched the arm and the plinth. What cartridges have you liked with the Grado?

@watt when did Luther build those cabinets for you? I seem to think I remember those at his house back when I first met him.

I remember listening to that Rek-o-kut around the time I got my Lenco. It was so pretty! I don't remember where we were, possibly your place in Andersonville?

2012 (so says the internet). I think he may have had a get-together at his house not long after finishing them? I liked them from the start (and what's not to like about the cabinets), but the markwart crossovers and a little stuffing made them even better, in my opinion.

Likely my place in Andersonville. I bought it from a priest at Loyola who was cleaning out the rec center basement!

Wow! Those are great looking speaker cabinets and the turntable plinths are very nice too! You have excellent taste.

Thanks! I wish I had excellent camera skills--looking back at them, I notice how much these photos are washed out and grainy.

Wardsweb from AK build the cabinets and the Fairchild plinth, for which I'm forever grateful. My attempts at woodworking are much more . . . um, brutalist.

If I take pics and post from my phone, I’m less likely to see how bad they are.

Got a slate plinth for the Thorens. And finally a bulb for the lamp. (Not sure if it’s gonna stay there.)
