Silver Miner at Large
Up to recently, among many other things, I had been a local radio personality, here in Tucson, for around thirty years. Back in the day, I was a DJ in a Tucson nightclub. I get real joy from making people happy with food, drink, and music. I truly enjoy mixing the ingredients together for these things and watching faces light up.
As a special service to Havenites, and unique to our forum, I run our own streaming radio station, called, appropriately, "HiFi Haven Radio.". On Mondays and Thursdays, new music mixes are queued up for you in our "read-only" Haven Radio chat room. On Sundays, special mixes are queued up, just for the day. Each mix is carefully curated for quality and volume consistency, and is focused on a particular music genre, or a sort of treasure hunt for songs on a particular topic or from a particular country or region. Most of the cuts in Haven Radio mixes are provided to the Tube by the copyright holders, so that tends to keep the quality a matter of intent. While my mixes are hosted and published on YouTube, my channel is not monetized. I have no original content there, just my mixes, published as publicly accessible playlists. Again, if played here, they are ad free...at least for now. Well...I may toss in a few ads now and then, but they are of the tongue-in-cheek variety, created by Cheech and Chong, Firesign Theatre, and others. I actually have a few that were created by real ad producers, for real products, but intended for entertainment purposes only as you may see. You might hear an ad and your eyes may pop open and you cry "Wait a minute. What!?!"
These mixes consist of collections of YouTube music cuts, but if listened to here, they are ad free. They are not intended for critical listening sessions, but, I have a pretty revealing audio rig, and they present very well. Cuts on the Tube vary widely in quality, however, I only collect cuts that sound nice on my main rig, so they should sound nice on yours as well.
Each mix in the HiFi Haven Radio chatroom is provided in two forms: (1) as individual cuts which can be played as desired. and (2) as a complete playlist which plays each cut in the collection, from start to finish, automatically. In addition to the Haven Radio chatroom, I intend to keep this thread updated with a description of the current music mix, and a player, loaded with the playlist version of the mix of the day. The playlist version, in this thread or in the Haven Radio chatroom, can be opened in a separate tab of your browser. Click the playlist and it will play in the background as you browse or do other things with other browser tabs.
There is an ad on the right side of the main forum page, which resides just above the list of who is on line. You can tell what is queued up in HiFi Haven Radio. For a description of the mix in HiFi Haven Radio, just float your mouse over the name of the mix, and its description should present. I have not tried it with a phone, so I don't know what will happen in such case. Click the name of the mix, and you will go directly to where it is presented.
Enjoy,
Rich P
