I come in peace...from Las Vegas

Hey all, my name is Cory and I am a Las Vegas native. I'll echo what others have said, that there are many familiar faces (names) here, and I also discovered this forum unintentionally...seems like a nice place and I like to change things up now and then. So, you'll probably see me around these parts asking questions and hopefully answering a few along the way.

I've always been a music lover, but the hi-fi audio bug didn't hit me until 2008. Since then, it's been fun learning from others and figuring out what I really want out of my system(s). My 2-channel system gets the priority, while the HT 5.1 is secondary. I'm always on a budget, but seem to come across some decent deals every once in a while. I either keep those pieces as an upgrade to either system or I pass them along and put that towards what I really want.

I'm currently in the middle of an upgrade itch with my 2 CH, which comes after a speaker scroe that turned into a trade for a new power amp, followed up by the sale/partial trade of my integrated amp to fund a dedicated preamp. I then found a preamp which I'm now using as a "placeholder" until I can afford the one that I really want. I'm actually really happy with the current setup, more so with each listening session, and may end up keeping it as is.

Current systems
2-Channel
Speakers: Miller & Kreisel SV-200B - Hybrid tower design, each including a 1" silk dome Peerless tweeter, 6.5" Peerless mid, and an Eminence 12" poly-cone woofer powered by a class A/B 200 watt amp. The amps are fully restored with much better components and the monitor crossovers have all Mundorf MOX resistors and Mundorf E-Caps bypassed with Vishay 1837 film caps.
Amplification: Manley Lab Series Stereo 75+75 (power), Forte Audio Model 2 (pre)
Sources: Luxman PD277 w/ Grado G2+ (TT), Denon DVD-2910 (SACD), Schiit Bifrost Uber Gen2 (dac) [USB audio via MediaMonkey Gold w/ ~1.5 TB of FLAC files; Windows 7 PC]
Power Conditioning: Richard Gray's Power Company 400 Pro
Cables: Kimber Kable 8VS, 4VS (speaker), Analysis Plus Purple Plus USB, Snerp's silver-plated OFC (interconnects), Pangea AC-9, AC-14SE, Custom Audio LLC (power)
Rack: Lovan Classic II (shared)

HT 5.1
Amplification: Marantz SR6005 AV receiver
Speakers: Canton Plus QX (satellites), REL Acoustics T1 (subwoofer)
Source: Playstation 4 Pro
Power Conditioning: Panamax 5500-EX
Cables: Tributaries 14 AWG LC-OFC (speakers), Acoustic Research mono RCA (.1/LFE), Monster Cable HDMI (interconnects)
Rack: Lovan Classic II (shared)

Room Treatments: DIY acoustic panels 2' x 4' w/ Owens Corning 703 (x5)

*these pics don't show the recent Forte Model 2 acquisition, they show the Musical Fidelity A300 integrated amp that was on preamp duty. Also, the M&K LP-1S is not in the mix anymore. Everything else is current.*

Welcome to The Haven, Cory! :)

Nice to see a fellow Nevadan in the neighborhood. :)

Welcome and yes, very nice system. I love that power amp!

I'm familiar with your now departed A300 integrated amp, I've got an A308 which is essentially similar.

I wanted to keep it as a back up/SS amp, but I can't keep 'em all right now. My plan is to try an A308 some point in the future, I loved the A300 which was my main amp for about 3 years.

Welcome aboard! Stay long and visit often. Love the M&K slanted speakers, lots of character and imagine they are quite musical. Like the knob on the a300 too.

Welcome! A fine system and a really great space to listen in. Manley gear is nice stuff for sure and the rest is lovely as well - note my bias... hah.

Cory that is a nice system you have.

Is that a German Shepherd in the last photo guarding your system?

BTW I couldn't take the hot summers in Las Vegas.

Thanks Jim!

Yes, that's Bacchus...he's going on 9 years old now (B-day on Cinco de Mayo), but often acts like a pup.

We don't like the heat either, was 91 the other day! On rare occasions, Vegas gets snow, usually doesn't stick. One particular time back in Feb 2015, we had a big storm and it was really coming down at Red Rock Canyon, which is normally a beautiful warm sandstone desert. I was able to get some good pics as proof that I wasn't dreaming...
