I just can’t quit... Altecing!

What are the external dimensions of the cabinets, Woody?

(oh, and yes, laid back is probably and apt description for the 32C horns, but if you have a somewhat spicy driver like an 802-8G or an 808-8B, they get a little livelier - thanks again for the horns, BTW, I'm enjoying the shit out of 'em!)

The External dims are ~ 24"x30"x14.75" so assuming it's 3/4" ply then that is a 4.92-ish Cubic Foot Box. I'm thinking Option 1 is going to be the ticket. I have most of the parts already.

The motor board removable on those?

As far as options go, maybe you go ahead and build a motor board that allows you to once and for all mount the 32 inside.

Yes... I'll post some pics of the insides tonight after work. There is the front baffle with a cutout, and then the motor board is a sub-baffle... like the old Altec Iconics kinda. From the pics he showed me it looks like it can just be unscrewed from inside. I'm thinking new motherboard and new backs... these backs are kinda ugly with some kinda shoddy installed ports.

I don't have 32's anymore. I sold them all off.

No I haven't but my friend Joel did. It sounded quite decent with the typical lack of cabinet coloration but less bass extension.

Ultimately he went back to 755C/OB, more coherent! (605B/OB in the center was my mono speaker in Manila).

Everything is a compromise in this hobby. We just have to make our own.

The PO just sent me the pics of the contents of the boxes... I haven't looked up anything. If you know something, say something!

Option 5) Buy my Fostex FW405 and put them in those cabinets. Bass problems: solved.

Update:

Speakers are fully stripped now of the parts and the sub baffle so I could see what I have to work with. The final interior volume with accurate measurments is 4.92cu/ft.

The 414-16C’s are in awesome shape. They will be utilized along with my Emilar EH800 bowtie horns and 802-8G drivers. The 802’s need to go to GPA for service and diaphragms. I’ll try and get them out this next week or so. Still need to figure out networks but I have J-Rob style ones with L-Pads ready to go already.

Going to open up the front baffle a bit to make room for the horn’s width. Will still use a sub-baffle behind. The exteriors will just get a little clean up with 0000 steel wool et. al. But will remain basically unchanged. Stripped out the old fiberglass and matted brown insulation and will likely use OC703 on 3 sides like I did in my 614’s.

Leaving in 30min with a buddy to go pick up the Valencia’s.

These should turnout nicely. Always wanted to play with the Emilie horns.... it’ll be cool to hear your take on these compared to the 32’s.
