I know you are but what Urei?

For a short time between G and K's, there was a 604-8H that had the mantaray horn and alnico magnets.

Yes. I have been reading a lot on versions.

I'm pretty confident these are 604-8G's. They have the multi-cellular horn. They have the Circumferential phase plug. Cast 16" basket.

I pulled the back covers and loading caps off last night and one had a GPA 8ohm diaphragm, and the other had a Radian diaphragm with a captan style surround instead of the pleated aluminum.

It works out cause I needed a diaphragm for one of the CDs for my 9842's. So now I have a matched set in there. I'll be taking these 604's to Bill in a couple weeks to get fully redone and I'll have him put in new 'Phrams at that time.

Need to start thinking about an enclosure.

Yes, I think they are Gs. The H has the Mantaray horn which looks completely different, and the magnet structure (and horn) of the K looks completely different - those should be alnico.

Here's pics of my Gs - which are another slightly different variant - they have the old-style caps but where OEM'ed this way; I bought from the original owner and have documents from him confirming this is how they came from Altec. If you look down the throat of mine you can see the tangerine phase-plug as well, which wasn't universally used across all Gs.

Very interesting thread. I know for a period of time Urei even used PAS coaxials at one point and I already have a pair of those. I also got a heck of a deal on a pair of crossovers and have 4 woofers on their way.
