I wonder about stuff

so -- and this, admittedly, isn't audio-related, but it is diagnostic:

Earlier today, I was out doin' some outdoor chores. I was trimming the grass around the electric fence on the larger of our two vegetable gahdens (umm, I mean gardens -- sorry, too long livin' in the Bay State ;) ). Since nips from those things are unpleasant, I decided to turn the fence off. Now, the "energizer" on that particular fence has one of those membrane switches for on-off, with a red LED that flashes when a DC pulse energizes the fence. The switch doesn't give much tactical feedback, so I usually push and hold it for a wee bit and carefully observe the LED to ensure it's really off. I have, on occasion, been burned  by so doing, so, today as I did this, I thought to myself:
Off is off.

Which led me instantly to the following Crocodile Dundee-esque thought, which (and I wouldn't admit this just anywhere) I proclaimed out loud*:

That's not a tautology. This is a tautology.

Ummm... Yeah. And I thought my mind wandered off into weird alleyways and bizarre paths.
Myself, I've always liked to consider it a sign of intelligence. The mind gets bored with the task at hand, and must wander.
