Thought it might be informative to discuss interconnects the use tinned conductors:

Belden 8402
Canare L5-CFB
Dueland 16GA (as detailed on the Jeff's Place site)
Others?

I have lots of experience with the Canare L5-CFB which has displaced a number of high dollar contenders from my system.

As soon as I identify a good source, I am ordering some Belden 8402 to compare.

Also plan on having some interconnects made up using the Dueland 16GA.

Anyone else using tinned conductor wire for interconnects?

Mortsnets - Thank you for the 8402 sources.

The options for terminating shielded cable that I am familiar with:

1) Terminated at both ends;
2) Terminated at the source end only;
3) Terminated at the preamp end only - all shields are terminated at the end that plugs into the preamp. Cheat the AC power ground lug for all components EXCEPT the preamp. (Use this topology at your own risk.)

Personally, I think that I'm leaning towards going with Door #1, terminate the shield at both ends. :)

Are the conductors tinned throughout their length?

Yes. The Belden 8402, Canare L5-CFB (center conductor), WE 16GA and Dueland 16GA are tinned throughout their length.
