Hallo Felice,
ich habe lange nichts von Dir gehört und freue mich das Du es auch hierhin geschafft hast :-)

Grüße aus Schwelm (Germany, NRW) in die Schweiz
Kay

Hello Kay, yes the world is small. Hey, I'm happy and greetings from Switzerland
But first of all, thank you very much for the many likes.
Yes, what is there for this V.O.T. Very much.
But where do you start? OK. Actually the best voice in the theater? Or in other words. With this equipment, the ones that the Japanese describe in the Tube Kingdom, I would say a "HIFI" V.O.T. The quirks that can also be found have disappeared. More precisely, the voices that are way too big, sometimes the exaggerated instruments, yes, some say it's about the annoying roar, all of that has disappeared. So with the "originals - yes I have imported a lot and heard a lot of desperate equipment. This Japan V.O.T. has nothing in common with the" cinema stage sound system ".
The sound is so balanced. Comparison with a coax or full range speaker. Just fantastic.
A bass that plays pretty deep, you can tell from a V.O.T. actually don't think so.
But who comes up with the idea and puts a 15 "Field Coil C513 E chassis from a Baldwin organ with a thin basket and NAVI membrane into the 825/828 case?
How do you come up with the idea and combine the system with a coax tweeter that you first have to look for and find. A paper tweeter that, I say politely, is no longer manufactured in this quality. No, this tweeter is certainly not a Ribbon tweeter. It closes far too early for that. The HIGEND freak will probably not like that. But it is precisely this tweeter that has to be in this combination. It plays and fits perfectly at the top. I will write about the WE 555 KS 6368 later.
Amplifier 2A3 very fine and from one of the hundred Japanese magazine Tube Kingdom Vol66 by Mr. Ohnishi. http://www.ktamp.com/hk23_info.html

If someone wants to recreate this combination, they should stick to what is inside the Stereo Sound Tube Kingdome. If so, it's PLUG AND PLAY.
If you can't find all of these parts, then there is another ingenious Tube Kingdom proposal from the land of the rising sun. Take a Voice of the Theater Cabinet and add an Altec 409b to it. You will be amazed and maybe ask whether you really need all these rare parts.
I hope you understand a little bit with Google English.
Best regards
Felice

I have read that article on the WE/Altec trials many times over the past 10 or 15 years. The translation always leaves me a little befuddled but it’s still fun to read. The participants clearly had a good time.

Joseph can't speak Japanese, I can't speak English Aunt Google won't help us either? The question arises: what are we doing there? ;-)
Can that help a little?
Greets from Kaspie
PS:
Who can read has a clear advantage. Ashes on my head

Of course I know this article. After all, I have all issues 1 up to today with 100.
This interesting and exciting article with the different combinations convinced me so much that a couple of friends and I brought together some rare pieces to find out what the Japanese actually mean by it. A Voice of the Theater with the Field Coil 15 "Magnavox ID2880. The ID2880 a great bass with the right power supply. But this is another story. The big hurdle was what kind of adapter to use for the WE 555 and the 12024. Well, with the right adapter, the sound fits. And we found it correct adapter, well that was an experience.

A few pictures with the WE 555 & 12024 and with Magnavox C513 E and Westrex14 with Altec 803A and KS12024 & 713b
Maybe I'll test the WE 3A horn later. But I already know that it won't work without the ID2880. I also prefer a preamplifier with tone control for these combinations.
Best regards
Felice

@Felice , thank you for sharing. I’d love to hear one or two of those pieces. I think the cats certainly approve of the speakers too! :)

I have been using Microsoft translator as it does ocr from a photo on my iphone, it translates quite well and I’ve managed to get the gist of articles from stereo sound

I use something similar on my Android phone, the Google Translate app works shockingly well in "camera" mode.

That app is also available for iOS, though I've never used that version, but I can't imagine it's too different. You don't even have to take a picture and transfer to your computer, it kinda works like a video camera and the translation is done live/in real time.

@Felice nice post!

I've been "browsing" (can't read Japanese) Stereo Sound Tube Kingdom and other Japanese audio publications since the 90s. Great source of inspiration and ideas!

Your VOTT set up reminded me of this translated Stereo Sound Tube Kingdom horn article from Melaudia.net.

Welcome to HFH!
Thanks for posting, spent a little time perusing your sites photos. Looks like they were well ahead of their time!
What was the result of the open baffle testing done in that image with the various 8” full range drivers?

I have this iOS app and agree with @joe83 assessment!

I haven't used the app for this particular article. But after many years of "browsing" Stereo Sound Tube Kingdom, I'm pretty sure the WE/Altec 755A was a favorite.

But briefly about the rare parts. It is of course important that the vintage things play along a bit, cleanly or so. Unfortunately, this is not always the case. After all, some of the parts are already seventy, eighty and even more years old.
For example; It is not easy to find a nice pair of WE 555 out of three. All three 555 played differently. Everything with different WE diaphragms. Beloved Red Dot and others. Yes, of course I accept that for a mono system.
It just didn't work for stereo left right. So a pair of Japanese ALE diaphragms have to go in. Well, it fits well on the left and right - both sides are equally loud. Well. Unfortunately, but not more than a "good".

Until I found an article on Western Electric 16A Horn somewhere on the web.
So with a very nice arrangement I sent the WE555 to South Korea.
After almost two weeks, the parts were back with me in Switzerland.
And now? Now to find the right words for it? Is not mine. I just say wow! Byungsoo Yeh offers great service. Just fantastic. Only with the new Byungsoo WE diaphragm does the WE555 really play for me. For me just perfect.

Best regards
Felice
