These look fantastic! I sure am looking forward to reading your listening impressions.

Nicely done, really something to be proud of here.
Thanks Bill, definitely proud of my babies. I am spending some time with them today and not sure if it’s just me, but I’m feeling a slight bit more low end. It will be interesting to see how soundstage and vocals are placed, given the separate drivers (Versus concentric; 604’s). More to come.

Beautiful! Those are absolutely stunning. And hey, those horn sleds just disappear! :) Super nice.
Thanks, I may have to coin your phrase if I decide to mass produce the “phantom sleds”.:)

Changed the thread title for good measure. Might have to change my profile pic too!

Jose is the most talented woodworker I’ve ever known. His attention to detail is truly second to none.

These turned out every bit as impressive as I would have expected.

Thanks Anthony, much appreciated. I’ll have to say that your fearlessness in attacking big/difficult projects has motivated me a time or two to move mine along.
Wait till you see/hear them in person!

Here's some cool Altec Heritage at Les Paul's studio.

Look familiar?
Very cool, thanks for sharing! I’ve thought of having a set of amps built to sit up on the cabinets but wondered about vibration of tubes/harmonics…

It’s hard to make out in the picture but I’d guess a power supply and standard or high gain amp. It appears that the very early versions had the field coil speakers, but you could pay the additional money to have permanent magnet speakers. View attachment 44004

What’s seen on top of the Iconic is probably a power supply to the left and a crossover to the right.

I’m lusting after the Model 810 Loud Speaker Console. This is the early furniture quality version of the Iconic, with what looks like a stepped skyscraper on the front, slightly reminiscent of the Empire State Building. Very Art Deco and in my opinion the best looking loudspeaker ever made. Pic and description on Lansing Heritage Library.

What a great project and fantastic worksmanship! Well done, @Audionut!!
Thanks @Leben , I may hunt down a set of original H808‘s still. Though they are becoming even harder to find. A single one just sold on the bay for a little over 1K, it was a two piece version. Or I may just build some wood ones.

I am still playing with speaker placement. Something tells me that these should have minimal toe-in if at all due to the multicell horns and their sound wave dispersion/projection pattern? Anyone have experience with this? I’ll reduce toe-in or square them up and report back.

I’ve found multicellular horns to be quite forgiving. I normally angle them away from the walls slightly (like you have yours) and prefer a straight view down the throat of one of the horn sections of each speaker when seated in my listening chair. I have my 612 cabs almost completely against the wall to help reinforce bass.
