So....errrr......my office rig: 4.2KW/745W = 5.6HP. So.....errrr.....lawnmower territory....

And....ummm....might as well finish the math.......4.2KW/120V = 35A. So....duh....that's why one 20A mains on each side of the room.

God forbid it should get much stupider, but another 2KW would be needed to tri-band the bass. Too bad, the components will soon be at hand....and resisting that temptation will not be possible. Then I'll need to two 240VAC lines to keep the current reasonable (and join the rest of the world). Happily, the Fusion plates autosense the mains voltage.....so just swap out the outlets, move two wires at the breaker box and switch to the proper IEC cords......sorry, couldn't help it.
 
I can easily see that system sounding incredible at all volumes. And with the total control of the speakers offered by so much power, combined with the extra clean signal by feeding the speakers digital (let the analog cable guys debate all they want, but between the cables and their interfaces, all analog cables do is degrade the signal), I can also easily see hearing lower volume sounds/details/nuances/intricacies, layering, texture blahblahblah within a tune that is CRANKING. Just like you mention. Id never really thought about it in this manner but makes perfect sense.
 
I left out what I feel to be the third “reactant” in the “equation” for superior sound (of digispeakers compared to traditional speakers (at least according to someone with extensive experience building traditional speakers and solid experience building digispeakers (they are rather new after all). And that is the digiamplification (class D). Especially since the speakers are being fed digital, I feel this also is a siginifiacnt factor to superior sound.

Indeed. The new tech throws open the door to the biggest improvements we've seen in our lifetimes. I returned from a long hiatus to play in this game. It's way, way, way too much fun.

When I demo the big rig, first song: a fragile female singer and a dainty little lute player, followed by the stupidest, most violent piece in the library. Then....a grand piano in the room. Guys hear that, and they ain't going back.
 
Once you've heard, say, this performance of 'Space for the Papa' portrayed to the fullest extent - it's hard to be satisfied with the limitations of ordinary stereo.

Sorry about that. Tracking that signal is so vicious difficult, I had no idea of the level of complex and aggressive timbre that was hidden inside it until we went with direct coupled multi amps. The passives were just smearing it away.

Maybe we need a thread like "Tunes Your Rig Can't Play"?

That test has been part of our "inside baseball" language since the early 90s. Back then, one question was: "Can it play Whole Lotta Love?". Meaning does it deliver the artistic intend with sufficient authority; can't sound soft. Since then, the tests have become harder and more pointy, like: "Can it play Rebecca Pidgeon's "McDougal's Men" a test of midrange purity and coherence - image wander, blur, confusion in the stage, changing focus as she scales up and down, all can trip you up pretty darn easily.

Torture tracks. It's what you can't play that matters.
 
I think that's the difference between listening to *music* and listening to *equipment*. The former is listening to what's right, the latter is listening to what's wrong. But I've found that I can't be satisfied with listening to what's right until I've mitigated what's wrong to the greatest extent that I can. Unfortunately that can be a moving target.
 
The goal of this thread was not to conclude that everyone on here except for 2 members (that I am aware of) has systems that are lacking. :)

Whether electrical problems, mechanical problems, thermal problems, etc, interfaces tend to create them. And this is just one of the benefits of “digispeaker” technology, no unnecessary electrical interfaces.
