Looks like a cool place to hang!

I have been hanging for a while and using you all trying to convince my wife that I was not "special". I did so by sharing some of your comments whenever she raises an eyebrow. Even though I know she is a keeper (been with her over 40 years) but knew she was so when I showed up at our beautifully decorated home with my main speakers (my Valencias). Now her showroom living room became a "listening room". The Valencias were in great shape, only exception was the wooden grille that was disintegrating. I sort of made do with some stainless punch plate. Just recently I became buds with a gentleman that is an awesome wood craftsman and an audiophile. He made me an exact replica of the Valencia grills. Wow, now they look brand new. Imagine her surprise when I showed up years later with a pair of A7s. Those are in my workshop. You have not lived until you have heard "going up the country" by canned heat on an A7! She believes we all suffer from an addiction and I agree, but its not really a bad one... is it? That same gentleman introduced me into Karlson couplers that he makes... Paired with an 806A it sounds spectacular. I am using it with my Altec 9s as a center channel for our bedroom sound system. Now I am wondering if my 9s would improve if each had a coupler...
Having grown up in the 60's I always was an Altec fan, it is just recently that I have expanded into other systems such as the Karlson couplers and the Emilar horns.
Anyway, I am rambling and am just glad to have come into this group. Thank you for the opportunity.

Welcome to the haven! Definitely a great place to hang your hat and kick up your feet. There is a wide variety of speaker fans, including a “couple” Altec ones.;)
Curious as to what is powering the Altecs?

The A7s are being powered by a peavey tube 30/30, the Valencias are powered by a 5 year old or so Denon receiver with the subs being powered by a Carver 400W/Ch., the bedroom system is fed by another Denon running the Altec 9s and the Karlson coupler. Working on an old tube amp ? brand? that will feed the A7s

Nice, it’s definitely worth investing in a nice tube amp to power your top tier Altecs. There is a very tangible system energy when they come together.

And what is the little mini paragon/Valencia looking cabinet below the 806 and between the 9’s (need to research the coupler but you mentioned earlier too).

It is the other 1/3 of the center channel. My buddy, the craftsman that built the coupler built a small ported cab for 2 full range 4" speakers handling all freqs and the karlson's 806 gets the juice through a R/C xover built by same man that does its thing at around 800HZ Really nice sound coming from those 2-4"s. Did you notice my bud actually built the grill of the same material as he used for making my Valencia grills. And they are made out of wood, like the original. As far as amps go, Jr. , my son, builds high end tube guitar amps and he has been telling me he is going to build me a stereo unit. We'll see! here's hoping!

Oh, and in addition, the Karlson coupler makes the vocals so clear... and hard to find in the setup as it is not as directional as a horn. It has been a week of firsts... all good. And if any one of our partners in crime wants to take a gander at the grill or the coupler, just give me a heads up and I will gladly host. be safe all
