Loving Me Some New Abba!

I never realized how much I missed happy, bouncy, lighthearted music until I heard Abbas latest new release, Just A Notion. Just a fun song, with those incredible Abba harmonies. Originally written and recorded in 1978, but never released, Benny created a new backing track for it, and I love it.

I have a relationship with Abba like I do with sugary candy. I love it for a very short time, about one song, but then feel icky. It goes from love to ick pretty fast. Maybe because it reminds me of bouncing around motion-sick in the rear-facing folding seat in the back of the family wagon. But I’m happy they’re making (recovering? Finishing?) music and making others happy. I don’t want to live in a world without candy.

Now all you need is a cool 1980 Firebird to play it in and you'll be good to go!

I'll have to check out this new Abba release. I hope it is on vinyl also.

And, to add to the fun, I preordered the album on, drumroll please......... Cassete
Maybe this is the media Abba will sound the best.

Sorry, had to say that. Waiting for the already mentioned ban hammer now ...

Why did I give away my original Sony Walkman in purple metallic? Could have sent it to you for the real feel ...

I’m sure if they could, they would have. Im sure lots of folks remember there ABBA days on 8 track.

Hmmm, I wonder when the last 8 Track was produced…
For last commercially-released pre-recorded 8-tracks, it was in 1988/1989 with Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits. There were a few other rarities in those late 80's. There were a few released later into the 2000s, even one by Cheap Trick in 2009. Cheap Trick – The Latest (2009, 8-Track Cartridge) - Discogs

Nando.

Listening to it now. My first new, prerecorded tape in 20 years. And it sounds lovely.

Oddly, it seems to not recorded with any form of Dolby. A sign of the times? Again, the cassette sounds very nice on my Esoteric deck, even if the tape hiss is louder then I am used to.

IIRC, my Bride likes ABBA. :chin

They never did it for me, but whatever floats your boat is a-ok. :)
Having had Scandinavian family, Abba was unavoidable when I was a kid. Every visitor to Canada brought is the latest Abba album as a present. In that part of the world, they were truly beloved.

"Originally written and recorded in 1978, but never released"

Don't get me wrong, I do like me some Abba (including the 'Mamma Mia' movie with Streep in it) in limited doses.
One song was originally written and recorded in 1978. Everything else on the album is new.
