Made the Cover of The Absolute Sound

The feature of the April 2021 issue of The Absolute Sound highlights seven speakers under five figures and I was fortunate enough to end up providing one of those seven speakers - the Rosso Fiorentino Elba series 2. I've known about this for a few months but I just got my copies yesterday. They should end up in subscriber's hands very shortly. It is featured with some of the biggest names in audio that have already established themselves. Rosso will soon join those ranks I hope - they are truly something special.

The review is absolutely glowing and nails what the Elba 2 is. Once I know it makes it fully out into the world, I can share the cover and talk a bit about his review.

I know you all don't know me well, but AudioThesis was created almost six years ago and I have been building Rosso Fiorentino for this moment over the past four years. It survived some of the worst years of my life (I was widowed then separated within a few years of each other) and to see it where it is now brings a little tear to my eye.

Fantastic loudspeakers. I was at a dealer to audition another brand that I raved about in the 1990s to hear their new line and Rosso Fiorentino frankly blew them away and for less money! The dealer unfortunately closed or moved away - I never know here in Hong Kong what is happening. I was going to ask them for a review pair but at the time I only had 2a3 SET amps at 8 watts per channel so it would probably work but would not be a "fair" review. If I am able I will try again now that I have other more powerful amps. There are so few things I actually like enough to want to spend months listening to.

I am sorry to hear about your situation and glad to see something turn for the better. I think the speakers sound good that it will be tough to audition and not like the sound. I heard only two models the Certaldo and I didn't catch the name of the big speakers a triangle top portion sitting on a dual woofer sub? Kind of reminded me of the Gershman Acoustics X1/Sub1 and the Wilson Watt/Puppy although I liked the Rosso sound a lot more.

This is just too cool. Congratulations on the well deserved recognition.

Thanks!

Francesco is a world-class speaker designer and even better, a wonderful human being. His speakers are a force that have been somewhat underground but once people know about them, they will definitely be a force to be reckoned with.

The larger Rosso you refer to is the Siena. I have a first gen and second gen pair right behind me and they are stellar - true endgame products. The speaker pictured below is from the second gen pair I have.

Congats, I hope you continue to do well. The Elba II is a very handsome speaker, like a nice cognac in balanced leaded crystal glass. Nicely reviewed and reasonably priced. If they sound as good as they look then you should have a best seller. I’d have to sell several speakers before I was in the market again but if/when I do, I know who to call. I wish you had a dealer closer to Western NY so I could a/b them against my favorites.

Congrats again.

And what is it about Italian audio gear? They have a different take on audio gear, but its invariably musical.

I have talked to two Canadian distributors to try and get them on board. They have shown interest but not moved on anything. If someone from Canada were interested, I would be the best contact at this point.

The Italians seem to focus (for the most part) on harmonic structure first and foremost. It is something so many companies fail to get right and when you miss that mark you miss the illusion of a live acoustic performance. I have tried one or two Italian products that did not impress but overall they have been great value products.

In all honesty, if you like North Star you would love Rosso. They worked closely together and had the same targets. The second generation of Rosso speakers truly transcend their price points due to the attention to the crossovers, among other things.
