C'mon Ed, that's clearly labeled 1909 on the front panel... Pay attention! 🤪Cool, I loved working thick 6061 for automotive stuuf..
Oh .. vintage aluminum, that is really cool.C,mon Ed, that's clearly labeled 1909 on the front panel... Pay attention! 🤪
That's such a cool idea, with bonus points for practicality!I did a big remodel of my workshop recently, and the white melamine gets to be a little clinical when that's every surface in the room, so I decided to wallpaper the one end wall without any cabinets on it. The old electronics catalogs are pretty fun to look at and sometimes have some helpful info, so I cut up a few choice selections.
The real fun comes when you forget to scrub off that labeling, as that writing will show through powder coating quite clearly.Cool, I loved working thick 6061 for automotive stuuf..
Keep posting.
It's a disturbingly large pair of 300B amps with a ridiculous pile of iron (none of it is mine sadly).
They started life as a pair of Paramount amps that got built on some huge chassis panels (12"x18"), but they didn't survive a trip with UPS. Luckily all the parts did survive, and now I'm going to attempt to build a shunt regulated 300B amp.
Just a warning, these are going to be purple, and there are good reasons for that.

VoltageWhat are you monitoring with the DC volt meter?
Most of the hardware mounted up without too many complaints. I had to order longer RCA jacks that will work with the 1/4" chassis, and I need to go to Fry's to grab some of those 1/2" clunky toggle switches for a power switch, but so far so good. There will be a gold anodized aluminum shroud covering the power transformer, which is why I haven't taken any effort to make it look nicer. The empty rectangular hole on the chassis will have the Clarity MR parallel feed cap mounted into it.
