More Duelund fun, this time speaker cable!

It's no secret anymore that I'm a big fan of Jeff Day. When I look at who is out there in the audio world right now that is having fun with this stuff, unapologetically, he is at the top of the list. Jeff's Place is one of my favorite blogs out there and Jeff is always trying things that are off the beaten path.

Well, over the past few years, he has become quite enamored with pretty much all things Duelund. Most of what they produce is well outside of what I'm comfortable spending, but their new tinned copper cables are downright cheap!

So, after having played with some 20awg wire to make interconnects and really liking what I was hearing there I decided to jump headfirst into the Duelund tinned copper world.

Jeff had posted about how he rewired his Tannoys using a recipe of 20awg for the HF section, 16awg for the LF section and 12awg for speaker cables.

So, rather then reinvent the wheel, I just followed Jeff further down the rabbit hole and did exactly as he prescribed.

It's only been a few days, so things are still settling in...but so far so good. Pianos sound strikingly realistic now and imaging has come even more into focus. Detail and tone are both improved, honestly I really cant see where anything has been negatively impacted with this change.

These are keepers!

I've been running the 16awg as speaker cables and have no complaints at all about what I'm hearing. It's nice stuff!

The 12ga is very nice. A bit more low end than the 16ga.

Bottom line: It's staying right where it is. :)

Parts Connexion in Canada. In fact, there's a package coming my way from there as we speak... and it contains more Duelund wire, among other things. :)

Sounds good. Need to order some stuff anyway. Might as well try the wire. :)

I see the use of 16awg and 12 awg. Wonder which to choose for the single driver Zeniths?

I don't think you'd need any more than the 16awg for fleawatts and fullrange drivers.

I prefer the 12ga on the Belles - more perceived low end extension.

The 16ga is really good in its own right, though, and I want to get around to listening to both on the Lowthers. In fact, I really want to try the 26ga solid core between the Almarro and the Lowthers - just for the heck of it.

As an aside.....I also want to get some interconnects made up using the 26ga solid core. ;)

Thanks everyone. Looks like 16ga for speaker cables and 20ga for interconnects.

I knew there was a Duelund speaker wire thread around here. So... I finally put in my 12g stranded/tinned copper wire and boy was I surprised. Much more clarity and openness. I’ve only played cds on a solid state integrated but looking to see what it does with the tube DAC, tube integrated and a few other power & source mediums like my record player.
Very happy with my buy and definitely recommend it! Thanks for the intro @marantzfan.

The 12ga absolutely rocks and is, IMHO, one of the best buys in audio. :)

Glad to hear it. I'll bet you're happy we wired up your Altec 604 crossovers with the Duelund stuff now. ;)
