Musical Paradise MP-303

Signed up! Looking at a couple of their products based on the good reviews some of the haven members have given their TOTL DAC.

Here's a few thoughts so far. The case is very good quality. Nicely machined faceplate. The blue LED is not overly bright. It has a large toroidal transformer that supplies the tube and the TPA3116D2 chip. The toroidal is shielded in it's own area of the case.
The TPA3116D2 is getting around 24vdc. That is it's max rated voltage so maybe 50watts of output? Input tube is a 5670/2C51. The unit came with a GE JAN 5670. I've swapped it out with a NOS Tesla.
The DAC section works ok but, It's a far cry from my Topping D30. The amp has a switch on the back for input selection. You can use either the RCA's or USB inputs.
Power switch and volume control feel and work great. The volume is a simple two wiper control but, It's mounted on a small PCB that will take the Alps blue upgrade very easily.
The AC section is a IEC plug and generic cord. I replaced it with a Emotiva cord I had in storage.

I've been using the Tekton M-Lores, Philharmonic monitors(modded BS-22's), Alpair 10P/Pensils and I have some Dayton B652-Airs on the way.

I wonder if there is any sort of schematic out there? Maybe someone has traced it?

I have a handful of extra blue velvet pots, do you know what the value needed is?

I haven't checked yet on a schematic. There's not much to it besides the chip. It has a 100K pot. The pins mount to a small PCB. Super simple to swap out.

pretty sure I have an extra 100k blue velvet, I'll see if I can dig it up for ya

Tube rolling day. I received a bunch of 5670/2C51/396A tubes from @Shelby1420 today. Some military spec, some unknown brands and the Western Electric 396A's. I've gone through a few already. It is interesting how much the sound signature changes with each tube. More listening to do before I pick a winner. lol

Well, you certainly have a great selection to listen to!
I wish we had the CGR's finished. I'm rolling with the modded BS-22's. I think the Alpairs will bring out more detail and better sound overall. At least it's getting close to where I like the amp.

I think you're right, they should bring out a bit more detail and finesse. Can't wait to hear the combo!
