Final "Upgrade" update in post #7.

Now... to just let the new wiring and changes settle in. I know people have their opinions on wire burn-in etc... but in my experience with the Duelund wire, I feel like it fills out and changes for the first 150hrs or so.

Beautiful work! I like that painting you've got in the corner
Thanks! That was painted by a good friend of mine from college, Dustin Parker. It’s titled “Her Life Was an Elaborately Planned Suicide.”

Great work on those, great setup too...what is the turntable you are using there?
That’s my tricked out Empire. I have detailed the build somewhere... but not sure if it was here or AK. It’s got a Sumiko MDC-800 “The Arm” on it and that’s running a Hana SL cart. The Technics SL-1200 on the low stand I did detail my build on here on HFH. It’s got a Sumiko Premier FT-3 which I just rewired and it’s running a Nagaoka MP-200. It’s got a smattering of other mods including regulated power supply, upgraded feet and more. I’m sure you can find my thread on it if you care to know more.

Edit: Here are the threads...

Empire - My Customized Empire Troubador

Technics - Woody’s Technics SL-1200MK2 Project

Great details again Woody!
I need to find me a shop to do the cool metal fab work like that.
You could probably take orders on the outriggers with some quick adjustments to dimensions I'm guessing.

Woody, great work. Miss talking to you from our AK days. For nostalgia purposes I just put in an order for a pair of LS50 Metas. Let’s see if I notice the improvements over the iconic original. If I had half of your talent I’d love to try a restoration project like you did on your Philharmonias or Altec’s. Someday.…

Hey man! Good to see you around here!

Yeah, I got more projects in the works... keep eyes peeled... I’ll try and keep my threads updated.

I’ll be interested in your thoughts on the Meta’s. I had a pair of LS50W’s I sold a few months ago. I really liked them. I’d love to try the new gen of that stuff.

Finally calling this system MOSTLY done. I got my brand new TDSS modded NuPrime STA-9 amplifiers yesterday.

I built new custom speaker cables using the same 12awg Duelund wire that is used internally on the Phil’s. I tried the AECO bananas that Parts Connexion has been pushing lately and I can say they are probably the best banana plugs I’ve ever worked with. HIGHLY recommended. They are on the amp ends, on the speaker end I went with Furutech spades. The speaker cables are only 3ft long.

The amps are tucked nicely under the speakers. Pretty crazy these days when amps that small pack 290wpc when bridged mono. Class-A input stage, Class-D output. I decided to go this route because I’ve been really happy with my NuPrime IDA-16 integrated on my Harbeths.

Handling the preamp duties is an ELAC DDP-2. This Peter Madnick (Constellation Audio, Audio Alchemy) designed preamp has been garnering some solid reviews. I haven’t had the time to set it up on my network yet, but I will. Right now my Node 2i is just running into an optical input. One of the reasons I went this route was so I could have at least one set of balanced XLR inputs for my Cyrus Phono Sig. The XLR balanced and RCA Single ended outputs of the Cyrus are simultaneously active — using the XLR into the ELAC let’s me use the RCAs out into my Bent Audio and then Fairchild/Altec setup... which is yet to be set back up. Waiting for a custom riser for my rack... I’ll show pics of that later when it’s all done.

So far it sounds great. But I let it play for about 14hrs today, and I’ll probably put 100hrs or so on everything since so much of this is brand new before being critical.

Now... pics. Oh... and a new dust cover custom made for my empire. It’s beautiful.

@ICTWoody
Looking very good Woody!
The amps and speakers look like they were made for each other; and THAT'S A TON OF POWER!
Agree with you. I suspect these amps will need a lot of time and 24/7 power-on to completely come on-song.
LOVE the TDSS certificate... So very official!

Yes. They only draw about 14w at idle. I’m planning on leaving them and the preamp on 24/7...

@ICTWoody
How about some chunky (matching) REAL TIMBER CHEEKS on those amp, to bring the amps to the same width as the speakers?
I bet you thought about it already... LOL!

Too much effort! I kinda just wanted them to disappear. I think they do a pretty good job.

They're still running in. But i'll probably listen a bit more tonight.
