My systems and musics

Instead of following and thread jacking. I've decided to start a 1 and done all in personal thread/blog.

Join in any time. I listen to a lot of music of all kinds and will share often. Mostly a physical media player.

I mix up my various speakers and such and have a few toys in rotation.

The current main rack and listening space

I also often mix up from strait 2 channel into multichannel and also Angela-Gilbert Yeung's 2 channel multiple speakers setup 6 speakers 2 subs format..

Jamming this awesome album right now, i just got this in a shipmentof about 20 used disc from Japan. I still buy albums without researching them same as you would 30 years ago, it takes the fun out of music discovery if you listen to everything before you buy it...I check a few sometimes if I have no background info to go from like style or anything, but I keep it to a few seconds. I want it to be a surprise on my system.

This album strait fire

Hey there! Can you tell me more about Angela-gilbert's multi driver setup? I vaguely recall hearing them speak about it in a YouTube video but that was a little while ago

Ok so IMO AGY multi-speaker setup is still best done in the "6.2" setup...but sub woofers really optional.....there is no right or wrong way to set it up , but involves working with what works in your space and what speakers you have and finding what you like.

Basically you have 2 levels of front speakers, near and far . and then rear speakers that are reverse polarity. The 2 layers of front speakers give you something of a very tiny time delay that sounds something like a dipole of OB speaker setup but with the crispness of traditional boxed speakers. The rear speakers out of phase work their own magic pulling the sound forward from behind and help overcoming room modes.

IMO the best setup is to have you big main speakers as the far fronts and slightly setup higher pointed strait forward and a little closer together than you'd think for this but not by much a little depends your room. your near fronts are set wide with lots of toe in so as to not block your mains from the sweet spot position. And IMO should be smaller stand mounts or near field type.

I've tried all my speakers in different spots and mixing and matching....One thing I think is true is that a single full range driver is best for near fronts, You keep the immediate impact and phase coherence as it hits you first. You benifit from having different kinds of speakers and drivers /tweeters in the setup, no speaker is perfect having some variation fills in gaps....forget the audiophile rules. this is audio fun. I do strait 2 channel also....but I'm more than an "audiophile" the current state of "audiophile" is cringe and lost its mojo, they in large forgot its about enjoyment and having fun.

If you have extra speakers and amps use them and have fun that's what its all about. I listen mostly with AGY setup, its amazing. Your speakers have to be complimentary in there positions. you could maybe not have good complimenting speakers . but try have fun. you might have a good time.

That looks like quite the fun setup bud! Enjoy it in excellent health. I do hope you continue to contribute in the Japanese label thread as I found your additions oh so interesting and helpful!

yeah IDK , kinda felt like a thread jack. I don't want to be posting 80% of someone else thread. I play a lot of other music too, I like too share them all. Maybe I'll post some actual TBM there. I still have a good bit of them maybe 30 or so. But so much city pop and other various japanese music and artists I listen too.

Think I'll just keep posting all my music here for a bit see how it goes.
If anyone else wants to comment share or ask questions. Its full open. this thread can turn into a chat box. There isn't much action on this forum anyway..Maybe it'll be a fun way to interact with active members.

All good bud. Post wherever you’re most comfortable. This place is a quaint and pleasant place, very much by design. It’s rarely crowded and threads ebb and flow like the ocean. I definitely want to find a decent primer on Japanese city pop. Maybe that’s something that you could consider?

How far apart are the 2 sets of front speakers in your room?
Don't overthink it. This stuff depends on your room and speakers. You have to try to find out. I wish I had a little more space actually. I even think my far fronts I should flip to other side for a touch bit closer....but its a bit of a chore breakdown everything....I'll do that every few months...I'll breakdown run a few minimalist setups and then build it all back up like now after some play.

But may e its 4.5 feet to answer the question. From far to near if its the near spread its like 8 ft

Never stay idle, always be trying things for fun sake and audio exploration

Great looking room. What are the full range drivers or speaker make/model off the front speakers?

Just curious because not being a reflection it would need to be twice as far as dipole/bipole for the same effect.

I'm happy with open baffle (or mono-pole) 2 channel, no rear speakers.

These are tangband w8 1772 in skar spl sub boxes tuned to 44hz. So its a sort of DIY job. Wires soldered direct and run out the port....

They sound good with a little eq, extremely efficient like 100db efficient or more.

I'd like to try a different box also these work and I like them but heck its fun. Something a little smaller front profile, I'd really like to try them in a 8 inch bass tube. For basically no front baffle and those are tuned to 40hz. But weather or not it works is a matter of trying.

I've had enough fun buying gear, I want to dabble more in DIY, its more rewarding.

The transparency of the 8 inch full range in some frequency without any capacitor in the line is next level, but nothing is perfect, the full range driver works great with the agy setup, also in the sense your not competing tweeters, though I had no problems using my other speakers in there place....its all fun.

You don't know until you try, I'm happy with 2 channel, but why not have some fun if you have extra speakers and amps?

Also only have my limited space you could use more its all up to you, there is no right or wrong , just have fun if you got more gear doing nothing in your closet.

Heck in a month I'll likely take it all down and put my pure budget strait 2 channel minimalist setup in.

Sensitivity 95 dB Tang Band spec.

My spare bedroom system has W8 1808's (93dB) in modified Yamaha 10 inch 3 way cabinets, sealed @ 1.5 cubic feet. A pair of 12 inch OB subwoofers supply what's missing on the bottom.

I’ve got JBL 328C coaxial in a different version of that Skar sub cabinet. They sound amazing.
