Noise Hardship Permit, that is a new one to me!

Mott, Cousino… 🤨
Warren High School graduate.
Your band room was old, but larger/nicer than ours.

But at least you had a football field. We had to use the field at Sterling Heights High on Friday nights. (Cousino has one now. And they added onto the school also.)

@DC worked for Warren Con years ago...

Yes he did; he was my daughter’s Ass’t Band Director. I was at a SMAC Meet many years ago when there was a new guy who I had some serious deja vu on. I went over and introduced my self and as soon as he said his name it all clicked!

Small world! 👍

He knows the teacher I had for band class for two years at Cousino--he leads the band programs at Wayne State. (And one of my classmates is one of the drum/percussion profs at Wayne also.) He didn't last long at Warren Con due to 1) seniority and 2) budget cuts; June 1981, last day of our junior year, he got his pink slip. The only reason I stayed in band for senior year was due to all the friends I had. Our classes got cut from six hours per day to five, athletic programs cut (basically, pay to play), lunch eliminated in favor of 15 minute snack break, pool closed, etc. Interesting times.

"Noise Hardship Permit"

With all the mental therapy aids (therapy dog, etc), I thought the permit was for therapy pandemonium.

I'm very nervous------------- time to fire up the big box VOTs outside at 2am.
That will calm me right down.........
ahhhhhhhhhh better

Well I am on day 10 of an 11 day road trip on my Harley. Almost home now. Maybe you all heard mine at some point. I doubt it though, mine still has two baffled mufflers and isn't very loud compared to most. Go to any H-D dealership and listen to a new one from the factory. None of them are very loud. It is the aftermarket exhausts that are loud, and that is one of the first things most people buy. Often they have the dealer swap exhaust before they even pick up the bike.

Yeah, those exhaust swaps are why so many people think HD is the most efficient way to turn petrol into noise. I f%^&ing hate them. I wouldn't mind nearly so much if there was an actual performance increase to go with... but no, only the obnoxious volume for most.

We are on a road between a large HD dealership & a Harley bar.
The racket is ridiculous & they run in packs so they can can deafen each other.

I get clubs, I get hobbies can be extreme, I get going for a ride just cuz, I don't get that at all.

But, they were playing teenager on this road long before we moved to this house so........... if I don't like it, its on me.

Kiddo and I had to endure hours of that droning crap when we were heading west across South Dakota to Yellowstone. Back then I wasn't aware of the Sturgis thing and we were driving out the weekend before it started. Only, these dirtbags we were behind (four of them) would pass us each time I would pass them and put some distance between us to get away from the noise. We also had a pack of five of them near Yellowstone that rode somewhat single file and wouldn't pull over for the half mile line of traffic behind them to let them pass.

I'm for the responsible riders out there. The ones who enjoy a bike just for the joys of motoring and seeing the country. Not the dirtbags (on any brand of cycle) who give all the rest of motorcycle enthusiasts a bad name.

I had an aftermarket exhaust on my daily driver/road trip whip. So nicely made, and it made for a throaty sound when I got in the throttle. Also, the engine pulled a little harder at high RPM. But the droning at highway speeds was unbearable. It wasn't loud, but was a constant undercurrent I couldn't deal with. I thought of asking Fluid Motor Union near Chicago to take a look at modding it but that would probably cost more than I paid for the exhaust system.

Same experience w an aftermkt cat back.
Also did an air intake & that made a nice difference. Cat back was just annoying.

The exhaust tip on mine was so cool, too. This was a couple of minutes after I first started it, mid November back in 2020.

Beautifully finished from stainless. I really wanted to keep it on. The stock exhaust had a reduction after the cat, but this one was the same big diameter all the way through. It has a little "patina" on it now but, once Spring rolled around, I put the original back on. Thankfully I bought it on a 50% off sale and today, the price has gone up enough that if I sell it, I can break even.

Here , the cops SOMETIMES conduct drives against aftermarket loud exhausts and destroy them.

If I saw a couple of leaf blowers in there I would move in a minute.

Where is this?

EDIT:

Whoops, not gonna move to India.
