I think we need a thread to share and document our daily audio distractions.

You know, the stuff that you find yourself reading about or looking at or (gasp!) purchasing?! after following that rabbit down that hole...

Whatcha got?

Here's something I found a while back. It's neat-o, and it sure gets the ideas swirlin'!

:)

Imagine that in stereo ! I was wondering if there was a fireplace going or if the record was a wee bit tatty. Think I have my answer. ;)

Interesting.....Since I have not found a match for the Altec A-8, was planning on setting up my long pending mono system around it. :)

Only one way not to cheat...

my squirrel is a late blooming interest in headphones:

just picked up some sweet grado SR225s on craigslist. i got into headphones by necessity: office has thin walls and my work system was probably too loud. next thing you know i'm trolling CL for deals on cans and reading headfi for mods. i just hate having things on my head (dislike hats, eg), but good headphones do sound pretty amazing.

so back to the grados... found a thread that says the best mod is using regular tape and applying it to the outer edge of the cushions; and wadda you know? it works! just got my replacement L-cush from amazon, applied the tape and i'm using the grados for a little bedside headphone setup (wife nixed a stereo in the bedroom but headphone amp is WAF!).

roon/tidal (controlled via iphone) > CCA >Fio DAC > little Dot > grados

new squirrel: Audio Science Review. Anyone run across this site? A guy who used to do high end IT for someone in the Valley. Now he is terrorizing the audio industry with no holds barred reviews of audio gear with something called an Audio Precision analyzer. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?ewr-porta/

Recent victims: DACs by Schiit, USB cleanup gadgets, a high end DAC from Audio-gd. Since I have all these items I have been reading with interest.

Also, some fun finds:

giant killer $99 headphone amp: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ents-of-new-jds-labs-atom-headphone-amp.5262/

giant killer sub $100 DAC: https://www.audiosciencereview.com/...ents-of-wesiontek-khadas-tone-board-dac.4823/

and, yes, i have ordered both!

The site title is a bit of a misnomer IMO. There doesn't appear to be any "review" in the traditional sense from what I've seen. He measures components and reports on the results. He does not listen to components, or comment on sound quality. Amir has quite the little following, which I'm happy to not be part of.

well, he does do listening tests, but agree it is mostly measurements
measurements aren't the end of the story, but certainly helpful to have
