On Hold - Wanted Garrard 301 or 401, plus a golden goose.

A bit of a long shot, but figured I’d try a “wanted” ad in case a fellow havenite has one sitting on a shelf collecting dust (or knows someone who does).
Ideally, I’d like to buy it at a reasonable price and have items to trade.

I wish that 301 that was local to me would have come together for you. I regularly lament not having the scratch when the seller first offered it to me at $700. They’re not getting any thicker on the ground.

I tried unsuccessfully to snag a TD-124 in a trade last week. It might have assuaged the regret.

No worries, I truly appreciated you trying to work it out though and would return the favor in a heartbeat!
I almost picked one up locally in the cream color, but the owner was fishy; he agreed on a certain price but then couldn’t confirm that it works properly, I went ahead and said I’d buy it anyway and then he upped the price. I told him I’d pass at that point. They are definitely becoming more scarce and certainly not going down in price. The 124s are a little more available but not by much.

The price for a 301 is now crazy, might as well go for a solid CTC one if youre set on a 301. I am very happy with my 401, they are going up in price but not as much and a seem more available.

I agree and am opening my search area to our northern neghbors in hopes of landing my unicorn TT. I do like the 401 too, kind of a modern take of the 301 (Might take a second look).

I have a client who has a TD-124 he is looking to move. It has a custom plinth and is absolutely gorgeous.

If you are interested, let me know.

It’s gorgeous, but I’m a bottom-feeder. Any top-tier idler of mine is going to have to be an as-found example acquired relatively inexpensively and brought back to service “on the installment plan”.

Your odds on the 301 might be better than you think. Put a few feelers out, set up some searches, and keep a fistful of cash handy so you can close the deal fast. When mine showed up it wasn't cheap, but it came with a number of "extras" that I knew I could flip to offset the outlay. That played out quite well.

Garrard made a lot of 301s and they're bought and sold every day. Yours is out there.

I need to move my Lenco (Bogen B61) soon, lmk if you want to dip your toes into the idler wheel world with that.

+ 1 on a 401!

The sonic difference between my 301 and 401 is like splitting hairs.
I recall you've also looked at the Lencos. What's your opinion these days about the Lencos vs. the 301 or 401, assuming that you've added a better arm to the mix.
