Our room treatments might be changing

This interesting tidbit from today’s NYT.

“Stealth Moths: How to flutter undetected in the night.
The wings of Chinese tasar moths have scales that function like acoustic tiles. They absorb the sonar waves of predatory bats, making it very difficult for the bats to detect the moths with echolocation. This is something entirely new. “I haven’t seen anything quite like this in a man-made technology,” said one acoustic engineer. If we could learn from these moths, we could make wallpaper that absorbed sound.”

Explaining hundreds of moths is a little more difficult to explain to my better half than sticking foam the walls. 😁

Our lives would be a lot easier if wall treatments also kept us safe from bats. My wife would be all for them.

The bats aren't the problem.

It's the baseballs flying around the house that really have me concerned...
