Pics of cameras and lenses

I think I'll be posting camera gear for you guy's in the Emporium, passing it on at a really good price. I have so much and really am not that interested in that hobby of collecting it anymore. Between old film cameras, their system components and supporting equip1775917760ment it's crazy for me to have it hoarded and stored.17758

Many years ago I picked up this original "Diana" camera from a thrift store, new, in it's original box and original plastic neck strap for $2.00! I have yet to run a roll of film through it but that may change now that I have my darkroom up and running. Cheap but gorgeous in simplicity! 17956

Probably the most popular beginner's film camera ever! Having taught photography for 34 years I saw more of these come through my classroom than any other film camera hands down! A great film camera, no frills, just solid manual functions and results!

The Minolta SRT101 was the camera that started it all for me back in 1974. I had just enrolled at a community college as a freshman and signed up for a beginning photography class. All fine and dandy but I did not own a 35mm camera and so I drove to Mesa, AZ from my hometown and bought a brand new SRT101 with an Rokkor f1.4 normal lens from K-Mart and the rest was history. I no longer have my original 101 but I have picked up a couple since then as well as a 102 and 201. I have a lot of fond memories of my SRT101. A couple years later I ended up working in the camera department at the same K-Mart I bought my Minolta from. I sold a lot of cameras in the two or three years I worked there.

Only from the mind of Minolta... OK that ad campaign came a decade or so later, but the SR-T101 is a classic by any standard. My Dad bought one while stationed on Okinawa in the late 60s, he finally traded it in on a Canon AE-1 in 1977, but was never entirely sure that was the right move.

The Canon AE-1 was a very popular model as I have a couple. However, I never did like the sound the shutter made and all AE-1's seemed plagued by it as they aged. It was like a squeal that cried for the shutter to be greased. The two I have make that noise and I believe all the ones my students had made the same sound. I never understood why.
