Pics of Pets

Ha. Pretty much. I figured out long ago that if I’m going to share my home with a dog, it’s best that the dog have a metabolism slower than my own.

There is truth to that. I’ll be dog shopping soon too, and as much as I love my husky girl, I won’t be getting another one.

We loved our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, but would never get another. I don’t know how many more dogs I’ll have, but at this point the likely possibilities are Newfoundland, Pyrenees or Bernese Mountain Dog. I know what works for me and my family.

My Great Pyrenees sheds about like that. Tail hair a foot long. To date, he's done in two vacuum cleaners and one refrigerator
I hear you. Your Pyr is beautiful by the way. Our previous 2 dogs were both Pyrs. But with a Pyr/Newf mix, we now get the shedding you describe *plus* the constant drooling of a giant soft-mouth water dog. And still, he’s my favorite canine ever.

Husky hair isn’t like that. It’s mostly the undercoat and you get little puffballs everywhere.

True story. Took the girl to Pet Valu for a bath. All was going well until we got about halfway through the drying, and then the explosion started. White hair filled the air, and it looked like it was snowing in the front of the store (we were in the back). She managed to pretty well fill the whole store with hair. I was mortified when I saw the extent of it. The staff were wonderful, and knew and loved her (she is a regular customer and pretty well the store mascot. Husky life.
