Jeff, I'm writing to let you know that for now I will hold off on your offer to convert this amp. I am increasingly happy with the amp the more I listen to it and the more I fiddle around with the upstream gear, which was apparently the main issue with my initial reports. If at a later date I am still unsatisfied I hope your offer will still stand, though I completely understand if it doesn't.

I greatly appreciate the opportunity you've offered to hear one of your designs by converting my amp. Thank you.

And for the record, I think it's worth noting my decision has nothing to do with any of the other replies in this thread or others. Just thought I'd put that out there as it's a personal choice to keep the amp as-is for now and enjoy it.

Best,
Steven

Hi Steven,

Thanks for posting. I was noting your changes in the other thread, with relief, and I was hoping that you would be happy. That is far less work for me.

I will be sending you an email, which will explain HOW I came about to make the offer, which I THINK you will like. Its sorta personal, so I will share it privately with you.

Last night, I was placing parts in an existing single steel welded chassis, to see If I had room and wanted to USE that 18.2 Ohm DCR / 750 milliampere power trannie, powering a stereo amp, with all supplies being separated from two individual channel 5U4GB rectifiers, forward.

I may have room, but the mono JJ 2A3-40 amps for me will take precedence, less compromised, and will likely become my ultimate daily-use set of amps, after eleven years of doing this direct-coupled circuit topology in various forms.

Regards.

There is a difference between stating and defending a preference, and stating a preference while alluding to the idea that having any other preference than yours is a personal failing only possible because somebody doesn't share your experience and ears, that you alone possess.

We have been quite tolerant here. Questioning moderation in opens forums is often a career ended for posters in other places.

Your reputation on other forums has preceded you here. Unless you learn to behave like a respectful human being who tolerates the simple fact that other posters, who through their own VAST experience, have arrived at opinions that differ from your own, your fate here will mirror that of the other forums that grew tired of being treated like they've been touched by the hand of God merely by having your presence gifted to them.

I hate to post this in the open forums but this problem persists despite repeated attempts by others to curb it otherwise. It's not hard to be respectful of the opinions of others. You don't hold the keys to Heaven, there are many many ways in, and yours is only one, even if its completely viable.

We have one basic rule. Don't be an asshole. We've made it that blunt on purpose. Why? Because it's NOT HARD TO OBEY such a blunt rule. And yet here we are.

Hi John,

I want to comment on just a thing or two.

You state " You don't hold the keys to Heaven, there are many many ways in, and yours is only one, even if its completely viable. "

There are not many ways into heaven, your statement is erroneous. If you read the Bible, Old and New Testament, one will rationally conclude there is ONLY ONE WAY to get into heaven !!!

Have YOU, or any of the Moderators of this Forum ever attended a RMAF Show, and had a chance to HEAR for themselves the amplifier and circuit I am discussing?? Were you invited to do so?

The ONLY way into Heaven, to see the Father, is through the Son. Go crucify me John !!

It would be a redundant use of my time. You're doing a bang up job all on your own.

Jeff,

Not going to talk religion with you on The Haven. Just like we don't talk politics.

Amps? Sure.

My suggestion is that we take the discussion of the new 2A3 amp, and all ancillary discussions pertaining to the2A3 amp, over to the 2A3 amp thread.

I'll go ahead and lock this one.
