FS Redboy SUTs

For Sale
$650 Peerless 4722 with selectable 1:18 or 1:36 gain.

I really want this one. But the timing is all wrong. Le sigh….

Here's an odd one...

I've built with a lot of Harman Kardon XT series transformers, but these XT-2s look completely different... They have a different label and a crappy paint job and they measure a little differently than the "regular" XT-2 I have to compare them to. So I wondered if maybe it was a fake. Loose bases too, so I had to re-glue 'em.

I popped one of the round labels off the top when I was cleaning them up, and it had yet another "XT-2" marking on it so I'm ruling out the "counterfeit transformer" scenario. I think maybe HK changed their spec at some point and wanted them to look different. Who knows?

Whatever the case, they sound great -- just like any other HK XT transformer I've built with. Someone's in for a treat. :)

A Public Service Announcement

Christmas is just around the corner.

Trust me -- your significant other would LOVE to find a Redboy SUT under the tree.

Buy now to ensure timely delivery.
They also make the perfect accoutrement to all the best Thanksgiving meals.

Seriously folks I bought a new preamp (a very highly regarded one) with built in MC and different loading capabilities so as to have more flexibility on carts, but just now put a Redboy 4722 sut back into play with my old preamp and it's making me re-think my decision

That's more a testament of the quality of these old input transformers -- a good quality, passive transformer (properly matched to your system, of course) is hard to beat when it comes to dead simple gain. I'm just a hack pluggin' em into boxes.

Hi everyone, I wanted to add some good words after purchasing a RCA MI-12399 SUT from Redboy. Construction is immaculate and the SUT sounds really good. It’s different sounding but on par with a much more expensive SUT I have here. It seems to me that Mr. Redboy has a vast knowledge of what all these SUTs sound like and that kind of experience is invaluable. :-)

Welcome to the haven @Kolner , I’m curious as to the SUT you have that @Redboy ’s went up against? I also would love to hear more about your system/setup (stop by the member intro thread if you have not already done so). :)
