Any ETA on the repair?

Just got the call tonight. They are ready. No clue when I will be able to pick them up yet.
I wondered where I put them.
I guess I didn't post what happened after I picked them up either. Oops.
Believe me, I empathize.
There's a bit of a back story here.
Years ago, I heard a pair of Rega Elas that belonged (and still belong to) BobA. It was one of those times where you hear something and it just sticks with you. I was much less far along in my audio journey at the time, and they were a bit of a revelation compared to what I had been listening to. The imaging, speed, and dynamics out of such of small speaker was ear and eye opening. Ever since then I'd wanted a pair. I -almost- bought a pair before I stopped living in Chicago full time, as a nice pair showed up at Saturday Audio Exchange. But adding yet another set of speakers onto the moving truck was not going to be in the cars.
And if ya'll haven't figured out, PrimeMinister and I yap a lot outside of here. Erik is one of my best buds. It's no accident that we end up with a lot of the same gear, because we go on weeks-long tangents talking about this detour or that. The whole Royd speaker/fast attack speaker detour was one of those detours. So gear will come through here that goes to him, and gear goes through him that ends up here. I've been aware of these particular Rega/Royds since they showed up on CAM and we started talking about them. Luckily for me, he doesn't like keeping multiples of things around. He's a cat who plays with the mouse but doesn't kill it
So now the mouse is at my doorstep for me to toy with.
I've not had these a day yet, so I'm still kind of figuring them out. They didn't particularly like my Leben amp, but are really taking to my Heybrook solid state amp. It's a little 80wpc Tim de Parvicini design from the early 80s. Kind of a quick Naim sound if Naim were fuller and imaged better...but a little less lightning quick.
More to come. The Hiquphon Tweeters are extremely impressive. I do know that I am not a huge fan of the Scanspeak 2008 series, as far as wanting something to sound remotely current. I wish I'd known about the Hiquphons earlier, I'd have tried to find a way to integrate them in the Spendor S-100s that I sold

That's sort of how I ended up with the Linaeum LFX monitors. Something that stuck with me at an impressionable age.
Yes, actually. First, they like very different amps. The Minstrels love the Leben CS-300, the Regas don't like it at all. The Regas love my Heybrook solid state amp, which the Minstrels also dig. They share a similar sonic character though the Regas, with their new Hiquphon tweeter, are more refined up top. The Minstrels are a bit more fun and alive, the Regas, while still fun, are more adult. The Rega bass goes deeper, but isn't as quick. But its still quick.
I think the magic would be in putting Hiquphons in the Minstrels.
The OW-1 is supposed to be a perfect drop in replacement for the 2008. No changes needed to the crossover. Hence why I got them.
While I didn't choose the tweeter, I have seen that it was said to be a drop in replacement by a supplier. I don't know... I do think, though, that as it stand they don't need any more help up top. If anything I'd say it could benefit from being even a tiny bit less efficient. There were a couple different 2008s. The Ela used a non ferro fluid one? I haven't read extensively on it. They do sound pretty balanced just going by ear.
They didn't sound dramatically different before vs after. Just dramatically better. And I sure wouldn't want 3 db more tweeter in those.
Shouldn't be too hard to do. Unless they glued the bloody tweeters in agsin., Like they did on the Regas. Pop them out of the Regas, and into the Minstrels for a try.

John VF you just found the reason why my old catalogs have different specs.
They all have the ferrofluid versions in the catalogs.
It might have been modified for use by Royd/Rega? The internet being what it is, information is a bit scattered.
