Repairing Altec voicecoil leads: anyone tried it?

Years ago, my mother, who spent two decades in electronic assembly, soldered an impossibly tiny lead running from the voicecoil to the terminal of my Utah horn tweeter.

Over the holidays, she's agreed to try to fix the severed voicecoil leads (pointing straight up in the photo) on my bum 604-8G 'phragm. I've got nothing to lose.

Before Mom takes a crack at this, do any of you have any words of wisdom?

I'm aware that the "correct" way of handling this is to spend $300 on a pair of GPA 'phragms. It may yet come to that.

Yes, I did that repair. I used some strands from a piece of Canare mic cable to replace the bent piece of foil. It came out stiffer, I think. But I use the drivers crossed over high 3k and baby them.
