Ridin’ With the King ... dog limo

I’m very conservative in my car listening habits in terms of sound levels and try to keep listening levels to 70dbl or lower, I think I average 65dbl with certain allowances for the occasional Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp-ing. But I almost always have a dog with me and up until recently, two dogs. They never seemed stressed out by the music and usually just sleep during the ride. Still, with their heightened sense of hearing, one wonders. Does anyone know if there are recommended noise levels for dogs in cars?

And a little travelin’ music, Sam.

Something I've thought about - I should ask my vet (or, more accurately, my dogs' vet).

I asked both my NY and NC vets and they couldn’t say for sure. However, they both thought that if the dogs were in fact bothered by loud noise levels that they would be sure to let me know, either by whining, barking or fidgeting.

Yesterday I drove with my neighbor to Buffalo along with his two grandkids - whom he affectionately refers to as his “Juicebox Heroes” - and his dog as well. I was the only one who objected to how loud the music was; the kids and dogs didn’t seem to be bothered at all. A lot of good natured over- the-music yelling was exchanged between the front and back seats. I thought the music was way too loud.
