Never got too far past the Sex Pistols into the this era Punk. I'll have to give it a listen.

In any event, always sad to lose a good songwriter and musician - the genre notwithstanding. :(

R.I.P. Pete Shelley. :(
The Sex Pistols were just the (somewhat annoying) tip of the iceberg. Lots of good first-wave UK punk acts: the Clash, the Damned, Wire, Gang of Four, the Slits, Stranglers, the Adverts, Stiff Little Fingers, X-Ray Specs, the Vibrators, etc.

Buzzcocks were more a pop brand of punk, with funny lyrics and music that is more complex than you might expect. Listen to the lyrics and interplay of guitars, bass and drums on ‘Why Can’t I Touch It’ as an example.

Gang of Four and Wire were also in this vein.

This reads like a list of my favorite bands from a certain chunk of my youth, still a favorite section of my record rack to visit now and then too.

Loved the Buzzcocks. Pete Shelley dead has me feeling very old.
