The automatic script you refer to we call AutoRip, and it does have problems with any discs whose metadata contains any "special" non-English characters.

Those discs will rip just fine using the network server method, but AutoRip will fail on discs with any non-English characters in the metadata.

Ripping consecutive discs does exhaust the player's limited on-board RAM, we think due to a memory leak in the executable, however you can always reset by doing a power cycle (with flash drive removed).

You should not be seeing any slow down or problem with a second consecutive rip however, especially not with an Oppo player which has more onboard RAM than the Pioneer and Sony units do. Typically the RAM exhuaustion willi only happen after about 6-7 consecutive rips. I think what your friend is seeing is the problem with encountering non-English characters in the metadata. Try the network server method on those discs and they should rip OK.

Scroll all the way to the bottom of that page to reveal the Assets. Yes Java installation is required if you wish to use the GUI, as that is a Java applet. If you are proficient using the CLI, then you do not need Java, but most people prefer the point and click interface of a GUI. Don't fear Java, just ensure you are keeping it fully updated.

That is correct, simply replace the existing sacd_extract.exe file in your existing GUI folder with the newly downloaded -107 updated version.

You can't rename anything so it is best to just delete the existing file from that folder first, then replace it with the newly downloaded version so you don't get mixed up about what you have there. The GUI is fully compatible with the new enhanced version, however there will no longer be a MB/s rip speed reported in the GUI as it was found to be somewhat inaccurate.

Yes as those pertain to the full use of this Enhanced version.

You are not required to use the CFG file, but it is there for your review and potential use in certain situations, and the Readme.txt document explains that.

Now that I've learned SACD rip, I don't have to buy a high-priced sacd record player to enjoy the charm of sacd. my current combination is a self-assembled pc, Yu Long's Aquila ii DAC, Philips x 3 headphones, Pioneer bdp-160! Temporarily satisfied, there is a Chinese saying: contentment! I am also preparing for the future, the future I will definitely buy an Esoteric N-01XD professional DSD decoder to play back my collection of SACD ISO, Maybe there will be a more advanced DAC!

Welcome to HFH.

Yes they are the same, or at least they were to the satisfaction of the developers who did those comparisons back in 2016. They took ISOs they had created as early as 2011 made using the PS3 and then re-ripped the same disc using a Blu-ray player. The checksums were identical.

This is not to say that there isn't the potential for differences to be introduced, for example if the embedded disc metadata is edited, or different size album art images are appended, or even certain rip parameters are changed such as selecting Padding-less DSF, or inserting Pauses in between tracks, etc... that will create a slightly different file.

The latest EuFlo enhanced versions of sacd_extract have the most robust scheme for ensuring a proper disc read has occurred, and they report that in the GUI for each and every rip, however most people lazily do not even read the Readme.txt file included with the software to see that information.

An IR remote is necessary to enter the machine's on-screen displayed Settings menu, which is required to ensure the unit is placed into Quick Start mode.

A replacement IR remote is not too expensive, at least not in the U.S. it isn't, however you can also use any Universal IR remote that has the Sony Blu-ray player IR codes.

Or if you know anyone that has any Sony Blu-ray player who would loan you their IR remote, all Sony Blu-ray player models use the same IR codes, so any will work and all you need it for is one quick check of that Quick Start mode setting and that's all. While there are a couple of other settings we use as preferred/best practice, the only one that is absolutely required is Quick Start mode.

Unfortunately it seems unlikely at this point as the end of the trail with new production machines seems to be somewhere around 2017 with the Sony S6700, which mysteriously had a silent hardware or software revision at some point and many/most (but not all) S6700 are incompatible. That was not a firmware update, either the SoC is different, or a revision to the Linux kernel rendered them incompatible.

The Pioneer Elite BDP-80FD (BDP-170 outside N. America) was also still in production at that time, and probably it's clone wearing Yamaha BD-S677 clothing too, but other than that the last still produced compatible machines began to quickly vanish with the discontinuation of the Oppo BDP-10x players.

No brand of player with native 4k video capability was ever shown to be compatible with ripping SACD, and really almost no machine not running Linux kernel version 2.6.35 was ever found to be compatible with the exception of the Sony S6500/6700, and Sony UHP-H1 that runs Linux kernel version 3.10.26.

So while there is some hope for machines running that newer kernel version, it is disturbing that the Sony players beginning somewhere mid-model run of the S6700 were suddenly incompatible, and perhaps a patch was developed that renders all future models incompatible.

Well I admire your optimism, but for me the list of compatible players is now quite long enough for some breathing room. I stalked the auction site and bought enough players to last the duration, along with a brand new-in-box Cambridge CXU (Oppo BDP-105 clone) which is the nicest disc player I own.

Lots of easily obtained inexpensive Sonys are still available, and if willing to spend a little more money (OK a lot more), the Oppo and Oppo-clone models enjoyed a very long production run and are robust long-lasting machines that can still be repaired if necessary.

So we're in much better shape than early 2016, when only the Pioneer BDP-160 and Oppo BDP-10x players were known to be working.

The other thing working against us is the demise of the Blu-ray format in general, in the U.S. it is in steep decline, and as such manufacturers such as Oppo have either fully discontinued their player line, or scaled it back to just one or two models. It's only a matter of time before these players have largely vanished, so there are simply fewer brands and players to even test for the last couple of years and that will only accelerate as Blu-ray sales plummet.
