Schiit Saga

Thanks @TubeHiFiNut ! The Primaluna is at the HiFi hospital and I came home to a nice surprise. The Saga had been delivered. Got it hooked up and playing without incident. Separation is excellent and soundstage is the same.

I am streaming from my DAC currently. Both passive and buffered mode work fine though the volume is higher with the tube buffer. DAC has a fixed output of around 2V I believe. My Musical Surroundings Phonomena ii output is about 1.5V, maybe a little less. Interesting to see if the Saga works OK with the turntable source.

So far so good. Sounds very good.

Schiit seems to have updated the remote control. It’s small but with a brushed aluminum finish, not plastic. Actually pretty convenient and “weighty” for its size.

Can you take a pic of it please?

The Saga is going back. Nothing wrong with it at all, very nice preamp. I’m planning to sell the NuPrime STA-9. A good friend owned the IDA-8 which I thought sounded very, very good. My problem, I suppose, is making the comparison to the Primaluna and others that made their way through here over the past few years.

Going back to the Primaluna?

Going to Schiit (return). I couldn’t resist the play on words. They do have a 15-day satisfaction guarantee for return.

Just listened to my Saga finally after almost a year of limited use ^^^^^. ;).

I listened to the Saga feeding JohnVF's old Audire Crescendo, spinning vinyl via a freebie Garrard TT and ADC XLM cartridge (with new JICO stylus), thru a Schiit Mani set to medium gain (supplemented by lots of questionable support assistance - IKEA cutting board TT support, cheap conical spikes and old Audio Technica TT supports).

Played around with KLH 17s, Large Advents,, modded Klipsch Heresys, A25s and double Genesis (2 x Genisis Model 1s).

The clear winner? "Non-fatiguing" A-25s.

This is my new go-to garage workbench setup. Love a second opinion.

While some may claim that the Saga is too revealing, I truly enjoyed an afternoon of vinyl with this combo.

The Saga worked well in the Man Cave and Living Room Systems.

Bettered by the @Redboy S&B TVC in the Man Cave System, the Saga continues to please in the Living Room System.

I really like having remote control in the living room. Have also found that the various Class D and Class T amps I've been evaluating seem to sound better when used with the Saga.

Just my opinion. :)
