Our two grandchildren are on spring break from school here in NH this week. They are spending Monday & Tuesday with us, then Wednesday & Thursday with their paternal grandparents, who also live in the area. Poor mom & dad both have to work

Today - a lovely, warm and bright spring day - we decided to take them to the Fairbanks Museum* in St. Johnsbury, VT, about an hour and 20 minutes from here. It was their first time there, and, by all indications, they enjoyed it immensely.
Driving back, Mrs. H and I were talking about something involving numbers. I said to her (for the third time on the day) that I was told there'd be no math. She replied that
counting wasn't math. I said that
of course counting is math, adding the
coup de grace "of course counting counts! By definition. How could
counting not
count?"
She encouraged me to consult with our son, the mathematician, to which I responded.
He'll tell me I'm wrong. He'll explain why -- and I won't understand it.
I still think I am right, if only on a technicality.
