"Skipfest" 2021 - Oct 16 in Arlington, TX

After nearly a decade of hosting a meet in October, I took 2020 off for obvious reasons. I am coming back this year and the regulars are chomping at the bit. They have dubbed my meets as "Skipfest" so we'll run with that.

La casa de Skip turns into an audio funhouse, with four and sometimes even five setups throughout. This is a social event focused on audio enthusiasts so while experiencing gear is the idea, the real treat is creating new friendships. There will be brisket, beans, mashed potatoes, maybe some ribs, and whatever else people bring over to share. It is a BYOB event and rest assured that someone will pass out before the party ends... it never fails.

October 16, 2021
Noon to whenever I kick people out
BYOB
Arlington, TX - about 20 minutes from DFW Airport

This is an interstate show. I have had guys travel from Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Carolinas, Colorado, California, Kansas, and probably many more states I can't remember. The regulars have gotten to the point that they 'save' PTO for this event so they can enjoy a full weekend. If you get in on Friday, you are welcome to come over and help set up and meet the guys. We usually go out to dinner that night as well. If you need a hotel, I can ask where the guys are staying if that information is pertinent.

If interested, please PM me and I will share the address. Pics coming of the last event in 2019.

I remember the demo of those Polks at the NY audio show. It was super gimmicky with us sitting an a row as if we were the Jamaica Bobsledding team.

Your event is on my schedule. Have to be in Houston on Wednesday anyway so might as well make a long stop over.

Excellent!

I'm looking forward to this event now more than ever as I have decided to forego Capital Audio Fest due to the current climate. If 5 or 50 people show up, either way I'll be excited. It has been forever since I've just been able to enjoy time with the friends I've made in this hobby.

I'm hoping to have some pictures up soon to show the different setups, as well as the incredible Ford F150 Shelby Super Snake that showed up. I want to thank Gavin for dropping by for the few hours he was here. I think he had a good time and hope he got some good food while he was here.

Gavin was one of the late attenders and due to that, he got to hear me switch a cable in the main system - same cable design - and hear the difference. The one that was in was low hours while I swapped it for one that had been in the system playing for months but had been moved to another system. The difference was immediately noticeable and smoothed out some issues the low hour cable was presenting. It is things like that which are fun to experience at events like this.

Yeah, but everybody knows all cables sound the same. :)
